What the hell is wrong with Sony? They created a major advantage MS and Scorpio by getting the Pro out a year ahead of time, but there's not much advantage if people can't even buy one. I was planning to possibly get a pro soon on Amazon, so I hope stock replenishes soon.

There's only one thing I can think of that makes sense, since it should be pretty easy for Sony to make enough Pros to keep up with demand.  There were rumors that Sony is working on a Slimmer model.  Since we already have the PS4 S, this is probably the PS4 Pro S.  My guess is they are waiting for E3, or possibly before, to have a soft relaunch of the Pro.  Probably be the same size as the OG PS4, but $50-$100 cheaper.  Price is going to depend on what MS launches the Scorpio at.  If they went for the more positive assumptions for the Scorpio, that's going to increase the price beyond $399, so we'll probably only see a $349 Pro.  However, if they didn't go too nuts on the specs, and can get out a $399 Scorpio, Sony is most likely going to answer with a $299 Pro S.

There is another answer: Sony monitored sales and demand and determined that the Pro is catering to a minority subset of potential Playstation consumers and the majority - likely be a very significant margin - are fine with the base PS4 experience.  And thus have concluded that it's not worth pouring more resources into it than necessary.  This would not shock me in the slightest.

I hope it goes on to sell a millions its first month, shutting up everyone that calls these japanese games "niche" and goes "who the hell plays that crap?".

"There are dozens of us!" - I say... and its seemingly a great game, deserves every sale.

Tickles me pink, seeing Persona 5, being the best selling game on amazon.

That there are 2 sku's of it ahead of any xbox one game...  this "niche" game.... riiiiight.

I really hope that happens. Not only to show that Japanese games sell(that isnt action based), but also that turn based games are far from dead and, when well implemented, can be more viable than other methods.

http://gematsu.com/2017/04/persona-5-worldwide-shipments-top-1-5-million

from neogaf:

"Worldwide shipments for Persona 5 have topped 1.5 million, Atlus announced.
We know that at least 550,000 of those shipments are from Japan, as Atlus announced in October.
Persona 5 launched for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan on September 15, 2016, and in North America and Europe this Tuesday, April 4." - Nirolak

Seems to be doing alright.. Must have been alot of preorders, shipping more than a million units (to the west), to be ready day1.

Its sold out in denmark (a few online shops I visted), and in the UK (neogaf poster said), and probably a few other european countries (belgium). They underestimated demand I think (in europe). Hopefully this means it has good legs, and they get more stock to europe soon.

well if that is the case, I wonder what MS actually expect from the Scorpio

That's a very poor reason. Making sure you have enough units for buyers, even if that base is smaller, is not pouring resources into it.  As far as we know, the Pro was making up 10%-20% of the PS4's sales.  That's nothing to scoff at or ignore. Especially when you're charging a premium for that product.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Xbox bundles dropping in the ranks. Scorpio effect looks to be kicking into effect.

Just normal fluctuations IMO. At the start of the month both bundles were lower (#88 and #95) compared to at this moment (#67 and #83 now).
