Holy shit the split was 55% to 41%? That's a major turnaround over last gen. Kudos Sony!

not much of a surprise some multiplatform games selling more on Xbox, more games to play on PS4

and it's Fifa and Battlefield, and a game that was on PS Plus

Why the heck are people still buying Forza 5, when a sequel which is better in every which way came almost two years ago? Drives me crazy.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Retailer promotions as described in the report.  Probably trying to clear stock they couldn't shift.

Horizon really does the job here. The gem is above 3 mil already I can sense it !

pretty much every current gen game sold worse than its predecessors on week 1. The userbase still isn't there.

Maybe you're right that the lukewarm sales of Mass Effect Andromeda (it probably did fine with digital) and other sequels are due to the still limited userbase. Though, many games have been performing quite well this gen. So maybe it has something to do with franchise fatigue and quality decline of said franchise as well?

If one of my favorite publishers, Sega, somehow gets a hit on their hands this gen (Persona 5 or Sonic Forces?), literally all prominent publishers have experienced sales successes and records in recent years (and that's even without a single Call of Duty game). As a bonus, many of these games are truly amazing as well. So all is not bad
