Forums - Gaming Discussion - Who agrees that digital sucks ass?

Digital is superior for me since I can carry around my entire game collection in one, compact unit and I don´t risk loosing my game if it would brake since I can always re-download it from a server. I have never resold any large amount of my games anyways, so that has never been a big factor for me. There could, however, theoretically be possible with a digital "used" market where a person can resell his or hers game up to one time to another person at the price that person decides. I dont´see it happning, but it wouldn´t be hard to do.

Nope.

That's your opinion. "100 times better" lol what.

IMO digital is 100 times better than physical lol

It's easier, convenient, better sales, and more organized

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

Digital is amazing, the only bad thing about consoles is that your digital library doesn't carry through.

There might be an odd flash sale (BF1 ON XO right now is £28, cheaper than retail). But other than that, I will never fully adopt GOD.

Sucks ass on PS4 and Nintendo. It's great on Xbox. And just like you can find games cheaper at retail, you can find games cheaper on digital.

How is it better on Xbox?

what makes it different on xbox?

If you're a single console owner, they're about the same. It's when you own multiple consoles that the problem arises.

On Xbox:

-Anybody can play any digital game on the primary console.

-Anybody can play any game on the secondary console AS LONG AS YOU'RE LOGGED IN.

-No matter which console you save your data on, every game is saved to the cloud. If you beat level 5 at your friends house on their Xbox, you start off right there when you get home. Seamless. You don't need XBL Gold

-You can save every game you own internally, externally, in any combination you want.

-If you save to an external HDD, you can carry your entire library with you on one hard drive. As long as you log in, you can play all of your games wherever you go.

-You can play the same purchased game on two different consoles at the same time, even online against each other online as long as one of those consoles is the primary (the owner has to be on the secondary or whatever console).

On PS4:

-Anybody can play any game on the primary console.

-ONLY YOU can play your games on any other console, even if you're logged in.

-ONLY the primary console gets cloud backup. And OMG if you have PlayStation Plus.

-There's a limit to how much data can be saved to the cloud.

-If you, for example beat level 5 on a secondary PlayStation and return to your primary, you still won't have any record of beating that level.

-Cloud data only saves once per day. It saves every time you play on Xbox. And you don't have to manually download your cloud data. It's automatic on Xbox.

-Currently, no external storage though it's coming soon.

I own 3 XBO consoles and 2 PS4s. Going digital is really convenient. I can play wherever I want and not worry about taking a disc from room to room. I have the same games downloaded on each console. Unfortunately, for example, if I play Arkham Asylum in the living room, my save data won't be there when I play in my gameroom.

I also own a Switch and a WiiU as well as other Sony and Nintendo portables. Sony is pretty good with crossbuy etc as M$ is good with backwards compatibility games working on your XB1, with cloud saves and everything! Nintendo? Nope. No point in going digital because your whole library could be lost if your console dies.

What if you want a game like Gravity Rush that currently $100 at retail?

I prefer digital.

Anyone that prefers digital should deff concider PC or Xbox since thats the 2 only platforms that have increased value for the digital front.

On ps4 and all my nintendo consoles obv. physical offers more value.

I hope PS5 will catch up with microsoft on that regard, but on PC i have been full digital and on ps4 I have not used the store once, I don't own PS+ and I don't own digital games.

On my XBOX Scorpio I will support the digital platform with all games except the halo discs which I would like in my collection and the Rare Replay disc which I already purchased before owning the console

I do like collections I have over 100 Gamecube games, 50 dreamcast games and enough N64 boxes to touch my roof :D on PS1 and PS2 I sold many games because of remasteres but my PS3 collection and Xbox360 collections are also quite big :)

On PC; digital is the only way to go and is often a better alternative than buying physical copies on consoles, but I agree that owning a physical copy on consoles is the best way to own a game; those servers are going downsome day, and it's going to take all your games with it.

I'm now filled with determination.

Yes for PC digital is perfect, your old PC gets outdated or dies, you buy a new rig, log in your steam acc and you can have access to your entire collection and re-download them.

Consoles from 2 different gens might not have backwards compatibility, you might not be able to migrate your library...
