I love it, it has an extravagant structure, but it really works, it kind of reminds me to Bjork sometimes lol

Just because it has a lot of instruments doesn't mean is a mess.
Personally I like it a lot,, the violin parts are really well done, the percussion has good rhythm to it.
Just because is complex doesn't mean is a mess or bad. Is not a catchy song that's for sure. Think of it like pop music; pop is catchy and popular because is simple, easy to remember; but classic music is more complex with more instrument so is more difficult to appreciate.
That said this is not a masterpiece, but is definitely a very good tune.

not saying bad, I said a mess. Like a bunch of instruments trying to sound like something and THEN it sounds like something. Now, I don't know if I like it cause  it's very unusual and not very zelda. However, there's another battle theme that sounds awesome and there's the guardian battle theme that sounds technological AND awesome.

I'm pretty sure music changes overall based on region. As for combat, I'm not too sure. We will probably have to wait and see

To have the same combat music everytime you fight is kind of stupid. Always hated that in games...

I think the worst was Xenoblade X. What a nightmare that fighting song was. Having someone singing made it a lot worse..

I just hope that there is more than one combat music. Would be nice if the music changed depending on weather and location..

yeah there is more, I heard one battle theme that is epic but it's a spoiler.

^

Nice to hear neither one of us had anything to fear. Nintendo typically executes music well.

You probably didn't read the first line of my post but anyway, at no point the song changes dramatically so it's definitely not a mess.

If you listen carefully the song maintains the same rhythm but with different speed (it gets slightly faster bit by bit during the main part, the verses keep the same speed) and the change of instruments, which now that I listen more carefully is not that much, you can hear violin, 2 different types of percussion, some click sound which I'm not sure what it is and the trumpets; not that crazy nor a mess all things considered.

Edit: there's also piano, forgot to mention that.

The Ocarina of Time song which you are using basically has the same percussion and trumpet rhythm with no variations at all (the trumpets just slightly changes at the end), not impressive at all; but going to my previous point, simple is more catchy.

As a side of note and off topic, I prefer the more complex style of songs of recent games, while old game songs can be good, they were limited in a lot of ways by the hardware but now that is a no issue.

Nintendo and PC gamer

I love the soundtrack so far. The battle music is very jaunty and varied. I love it. OoT is boring by comparison. The battle music in Botw sounds a lot like Studio Ghibli's, Joe Hisaishi's, work. Some of his compositions are very segmented like the battle music and can be described as a beautiful mess, it's supposed to create a feel of uneasyness with bits of triumph inbetween. I have to disagree with you on this.

A bit underwhelming compared to other recent outings like FFXV or The Witcher, but it seems like it fits the game well. Hopefully, there's different battle themes that are a bit more involved.

Beautiful mess.

bet: lost

Neither is anything special, honestly. Zelda games always seem to have mediocre battle music for the most part, and OOT was no exception.

I don't think it's bad.. my favourite is still The Wind Waker, but I like this one more than OoT :p

I dunno, I actually like it to be honest. Its not very melodic, but it sets a good tone for a frantic battle I think.
