Forums - Microsoft Discussion - 343 Industries: All Halo Games Will Have Split Screen Moving Forward

Victory for Split Screen fun! Unlikely to make a huge impact though, although I do think split screen helps games have legs. I mean just look at all the Nintendo games with legs that have split screen.

Thank god. Now hire people to turn your campaigns around.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Funny because from many opinions Halo 4 had one if the best campaigns and that was made by 343. While Halo 5 suffered, it was more a Multiplayer focused Halo which turns out to offer the best MP on offer. Halo Wars 2 also offers an amazing story so 343 only has to offer a Halo 4 campaign with a Halo 5 MP and Halo 6 wont have a weak point.

Great, shame they didnt attempt to patch it into Halo 5.

I am not one of those people and neither are a whole lot of people who have loved the series since the beginning. You are more than welcome to be excited for Halo 6 without knowing anything about it, I am of a more wait and see state of mind when it come to Halo these days.

I wouldn't say Halo 4's Campaign was "great" but it was good. I would still prefer any of the games in the original trilogy over Halo 4... Halo 4's story direction didn't jive with me.

Halo 5's campaign was incomprehensible though. The game shouldn't have been released.
The Multiplayer was also pretty terrible.
I didn't like the introduction of a Micro-transaction-fueled system in Multiplayer. Nor the lack of maps.
Nor did I like the absence of features that have become standard in Halo games like Forge, Theatre, Split-Screen, Co-Op, File Sharing and a ton of other features... By the time those features were patched in... I had grown bored and moved onto other games.

The best Multiplayer was Halo 3 in my opinion (Note: Opinion) you actually needed to use strategy to gain and maintain control of certain areas of a map in order to have control over power weapons, power ups and vehicles. Since Halo: Reach, this wen't by the wayside and I personally think multiplayer has suffered for it.

The only praise I can actually give Halo 5 is it's framerate. It's a solid 60fps, the way it should be, but that came at a cost of graphics... And it's worthy to mention not everything in Halo 5 ran at 60fps either.

As for Halo Wars 2... Having played that pretty solidly over the last week or so... Blitz only having 1 map is a terrible choice. The blitz-cards whilst great in theory are again... Another microtransaction fueled system. Yuck.

The campaign whilst it had a solid story (One of the best in years.) it had it's issues, for instance they could have ended the campaign a little better... They could have also did a little less hand-holding in the missions... And given us more freedom in some levels.
I think Halo Wars 1 did a better job of introducing new units and buildings with better pacing on top of it.

Having smashed Halo Wars: Definitive Edition before playing Halo Wars 2... I have to say I enjoyed replaying Halo Wars 1 campaign more than I did Halo Wars 2. - That's not to say Halo Wars 2 is a bad game though... On the contrary, but it doesn't reach the same solid peaks that Ensemble Studio's managed to set.

Halo Wars 2 as a whole also shares some of the same issues I had with Halo Wars 1, partly that's because it has to run on consoles... Base building is rigid and not flexible, unit control isn't as fine-grained, strategy choices are limited, resource management is almost non-existent, unit populations are tiny.

Shame that Ensemble didn't go with it's original intentions that they demonstrated in the Alpha build of Halo Wars 1 where you could place buildings anywhere, I think I would have preferred that, especially on PC.

I have to say that, I am holding out hope for Halo 6. Hopefully it is a return to form for the franchise... And like all Halo games, regardless of platform, I will buy it either way.

I agree with what you have to say about hw and hw2. I thought halo 4's campaign was better than 1,2, reach and 5. Only 3 and odst better. I also agree with you on h5 campaign an absolute mess. have you played halo 5 in the last 6-9 months. Tons of content was added including custom game browser. It did launch with no content though.

I also hold out hope for halo 6's campaign. Ross says they will tell a simpler story. Hopefully that means a more focused story at least. I also love hw2's art direction, hopefully that gets carried over. Also can't wait to see atriox in h6.I can't wait for its multiplayer though. As long as there's enough content.
