Who is the most money grubbing in the industry?

Nintendo.

For all the factors others have mentioned, yes, but there is one thing about them that really bothers me.

Nintendo reinvests less into improvements for their customers despite having billions in the bank. A lot of their services clearly lag behind the others. Why? They have the capital to hire experts. They can afford to improve every aspect of their product portfolio. There is no excuse for not updating to at least be on par with what Sony is doing, a company that has much tighter margins.

There is no good justification to be so far behind on features that benefit your customers.

Wow...just wow... are you actually serious that NIntendo is the worst?

That's I'm out I cant this much stupidity on this site anymore.

Yea because god forbid someone has a different opinion.

all of them want money and all of them do shady stuff. I have to say, those accessories for the switch are stupidly expensive and that's not the Nintendo that I know and love, ok let's say that the joycons with all the tech and the hd rumble need to be at that price, but the grip, the dock, the pro controller, the price is not cool. Also, crapcom can go and fuck themselves if they think that i'm going to buy sf 2 for 40 bucks.

They all have the capabilities to be bad: Microsoft with their initial XBox1 policies and handling of Windows, Sony with their handling of No Man's Sky or their attempts to get a hold of the terms "Let's Play", and Nintendo's hesitation at times to lower prices or their YouTube policies.

Nintendo. They never drop price or do any sales. Amibo is worse than any DLC or micro transactions. Virtual console classic games are ridiculously priced. Super mario Run is a 10 euro mobile app....? Da fuq. They are an old company trying to deny the future and by doing so they drop behind the competition and as it is now they are getting locked out of future competition with the the other two. Also, the whole copyright everything approach which is petty and self destructive.

I don't disagree that Nintendo can be money-grubby but Amiibo worse than DLC?

Amiibos have resale value, they can be displayed, they can be lent to other people, they sometimes have usage across different games. Can the same be said for non-physical DLC?

Honestly I'm surprised that MS is getting this much heat. They brought in BC when most said it was impossible. They have been giving away AAA games with their GWG, and they have offered discounts on games months after launch. Heck I even saw Gears of War 4 on sale for 40% off.

Then you factor in Play Anywhere, Xbox One to PC streaming and I don't see how it could be a solid second place.

Microsoft tends to have a smaller fanbase on this website, and a lot of people don't vote on these things based on fact, but based on tribal mentality.

I clicked "See Results", I don't think any of these companies are "money-grubbing". I think, for the most part, the three console manufacturers are *currently* quite upstanding in their behaviour. Nintendo has done anti-consumer things in the past, like Mummelman pointed out. Microsoft has had a bad reputation outside of its Xbox division. But for the most part, in modern terms, all three are fairly upstanding.

Do they have some high prices, and some business practices that may seem outdated today (region locking)? Sure. But they're quite open about it. A customer can easily be informed about these things and then make the decision going in.

In my personal opinion, the worst offender in the gaming market right now are the software publishers who are adding in "supply drops" or other randomly-granted content, which is essentially a form of gambling. They're addictive, and they are targeting children and teenagers. Activision is one of the worst-offenders about this with Call of Duty, primarily because they're so dishonest about it.

Nintendo by far. I like their games and (most of) their hardware, but they're expensive as all hell. Would it kill them to cut the prices of their games more than once in a blue moon? I've spent about 1/3 as much on my 3DS library as I have on Steam, yet my steam library is more than 10x bigger!

That, plus they're the only ones concerned about actually making a profit on their hardware.

Well Sony and Microsoft are certainly giving you more for your money (more AAA games, more performance, more media capabilities (blueray).
So ill say Nintendo

The so called tacky Amiibo thing does have one thing going for it though

A single Amiibo gives DLC in multiple games. Does the DLC you get in Halo carry over to Sea of Thieves?

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

I'll take a new Zelda or Xenoblade Chronicles or The Last of Us any day over Gears of Halo 46865789976433.  I guess my idea of "AAA" is not what the mainstream definition of "AAA" is.  To me, Madden and Call of Duty type games are just money-grubbing shovelware, and you can  pretty much add "me too" Halo to the list now.  It's been whored out every time MS needs money and they keep cancelling everything else. And gameless $250 CEs on top of it and blatantly marketing to the puffed up masculinity of the mainstream Western market exclusively.

Real "AAA" games are timeless masterpieces like Xenoblade Chronicles, Ni no Kuni, and The Last of Us.  Not copy-pasted 10 x 10 versus mode alley ways and new gun skins every 3 months.

Easily Nintendo. Every company has their greed in various fashion, but only Nintendo goes as far as bullying and content claiming everything from streamers and youtube content creators even if fair use. Monitizing for the sake of a couple dollars and taking that away from people trying to give free advertising to your games or criticism under fair use is more pathetic and greedy than anything Sony and Microsoft could dream of doing.
