C'mon. Stop defending the indefensible. In the age of downloadable games you simply should not give someone 32GB of storage on a $300 system and say go and buy your own, especially when the competition gives you MUCH more for less.

It is not a mobile phone, my phone has 64GB. It is suppose to be a home console. Yes, a home console as confirmed from the horse's mouth.

As for the rest I agree but let's wait and see before we judge if paying for online is really worth it.

It's really not indefensible. The storage is not necessary unless as I said you are a download only gamer. Personally, I would prefer to keep the system price down rather than them sinking more money into it to add some more storage when not all customers will need it. Now that they are switching back to cartridges I honestly may be switching as well from digital because it's actually a better medium anyways. That's my thoughts, and that's for real how I feel, not just a defense of Nintendo because I'm in love with them.

You realize that the future of gaming is purchasing games digitally through a store? The next console from Sony and MS will likely  be the first to have the majority of its sales from digital and not retail. While it's a big positive that you can buy your own memory cards, but you likely won't even be able to download some games because 32GB is too small (as in, not even a single one because games are way over 50GB these days).

Lol.... I don't think you understand the implications of what is happening.. However.....

What about game patches? What about DLC? What about download only games? Or are these things the switch will not support at all. How big are the games going to actually be? And you are making the general usage scenario of both the PS4/XB1 to sound wrse than it actually is.

If you want to, its possible to buy the PS4/XB1 and you will never have to actually upgrade your internal 500GB HDD but yet it will allow you do everything those consoles has to offfer. Be it DLC, patches, digital downloads, game installs....whatever (oh don't forget that digital downloads also cover every single game here too) and all you have to do is manage the space.

32GB internal storage is inexcusable, unless nintendo feels they don't need that much internal storage.... and if that is the case... then that is disturbing and not a good thing.

If SD cards are so cheap then for $300 they should have damn well thrown one in.

My stance on this is matter will not change and probably neither will yours so let's respectfully agree to disagree.

The fact that I consider the thing grossly overpriced doesn't help.

They probably could have, but I think for it to really be worth it, it would need to be more than 32GB lol.

I'm not saying it's not an issue, I'm just saying it's a small issue especially compared to the Wii U's situation.

And I am not saying it is a big issue. I am saying it was one that could have been avoided with little expense from Nintendo considering the price. I happen to have a 128GB Class whatever SD card so I am fine.

The reality is very few people would buy any SD card not less than 128 GB. I don't know where you live but that from the outset adds considerable cost to the console if you plan to download lots like I do.

I'm just saying because you called, out of everything on there, this being the one indefensible thing.

I do understand that digital is quite probably the future, it is more easily tracked, assigned to your account, and usable at any time. There are a lot of benefits to it. What I am saying is Nintendo took this into account and decided that since extra storage is easily accessible and fairly cheap, and the game cards held the games right on them, they could probably get away with keeping the storage low, which I agree with. They really can get away with it for awhile because generally speaking DLC and patches do not happen immediately, and they do not take up 32 gb of storage. Obviously people are going to complain and be against this because they are used to their downloaded games and their gigantic storage which Microsoft and Sony have them accustomed to. I understand this side of things as well, but again they were trying to keep the cost of the system down and more storage would probably have equaled another $50-$100 on the system and then people would have complained even more.

As I said I'm not against it and will probably buy physical for their system. Right now I buy both forms, physical and digital for my XBox One, but am quickly switching to all digital since I need to waste my storage on installations and there is a bit more of a product guarantee since it is downloadable at any time and assigns to my gamertag. I truly believe that people are thinking that they literally NEED a huge harddrive simply because of the current Microsoft and Sony offerings, which I understand, but I do not believe is entirely applicable to the Switch.

And I respect your opinion and the respectful way you presented it but yet I am not convinced.

I believe that the newer console should be superior than the older console in everyway. The WiiU had 32GB. To give us 64GB is not asking much. I too love Nintendo but I will not stupidly defend some of their silly decisions.

Please note I am not referencing you in anyway with my last statement.

a lot of indie games are downloadable only and are in the ballpark of 2-4 Gb.

32 Gb is pretty small no matter how you look at it.

...and don't tell me to just buy a replacement card like that solves everything. a 128 Gb card is around $40 and just another needless expense on top of an already overpriced console with overpriced controllers/accessories.

That seems like something that core gamers are going to worry about much more than the casual gamer, which I think Nintendo cares more about given how the presentation went.

It is indefensible because I believe it is a trivial matter for Nintendo to simply add more storage on the Switch CONSIDERING the price they want for it.

Thats it. Like I said, I respect your opinion and all but I am sticking to mine.

I have preordered the console but that doesn't mean I must sit back and grin and not say anything against it. I love the concept but not the delivery.

i suppose.   ..but switch isn't going to get causals onboard either.
