Really hoping they aren't counting the DLC tracks that the Wii U had. If these are entirely brand new tracks then holy shit this is 8 less then what the Wii U version at launch. This looks like it will put most remasters to shame.

It surely is counting the dlc as the added cups bringing the track count to 56. If not, then the total would be 72 tracks. That would be insane.

Yeah.... Im also believing it will be like that =(  I hope the 8 new tracks will be very interesting. 

it really comes up to Nintendo, given the time between a MK game and another we know that a full MK game takes about 3 years to be made, in fact I predicted that a new MK game would come out in 2017 when the Switch was still known as the NX, if Nintendo doesn't feel the need for another MK I think that's completely possible they added 24 brand new tracks, otherwise if they plan on releasin MK9 later in the Switch lifecycle the new tracks are certainly 8

While it does sound insane at first you need to remember this. The final DLC for Mario Kart 8 came out in May of 2015 which by the time this comes out it would of been 2 years since that DLC came out and perhaps the team have been working on these 24 tracks, the 10 new characters, the revamp battle mode, the new mechanics like carrying two items, and who knows else for these past 2 years.

New Battle Mode is enough for me. In Mario Kart DS I spent more time on battle mode than on actual racing. But then they screwed it on Mario Kart 7 and 8. If they put up some good arenas that make good use of the zero gravity mechanics, I'm gonna be soooo happy.
