Hmmm. On one hand Wind Waker is my favourite game of the franchise, and a sequel might have been great. On the other hand, Twilight Princess is awesome, and there are more chances of a mainline sequel being better than a inside-sequel of a mainline entry living up to the original one (It happened with Majora's Mask, in my opinion, but it didn't happen with A Link Between Worlds for example).

Eh, given the direction that Phantom Hourglass took, I'm not too sad. Wind Waker was a perfect ending to the Zelda series (or that section of the timeline), and extending it onward just felt like cheapening it.

I love ww but this was a good decision to help the franchise

A fully developed wind waker with more dungeons and less padding could've been good so a follow up with more development time Had potential but I did prefer the style of tp.

Btw wasn't phantom hourglass a sequel to wind waker (and spirit tracks for that matter)?

Here's hoping BotW is Wind Waker on land.

I always thought that Nintendo chose to go with the style of TP for their next Zelda due to the backlash that WW's "Toon Link" art style got from many fans. I really enjoyed WW despite the initial disappointment that the game didn't look like the Zelda teaser demo we saw when the GC was first unveiled, and a full fledged sequel with less boat travel / padding would be welcome, but we're getting something possibly even better in the open world WRPG style of Breath of the Wild.

Why would you want that?? Thats a massive step backwards from what the trailers have already shown.

Both were, and still are, fantastic games.
But Wind Waker's art style has aged much more gracefully than Twilight Princess.
