It could look a bit different for sure, but I wouldn't expect anything that drastic. The difference in behaviours between PS4 and Xbox owners probably isn't that big anyway (and I think we don't even know who buys the most digital games), and even the userbases alone practically guarantee a 'victory' for PS4 here. Going by userbases alone, the PS4 version should get about 66% (or roughly 2/3) of the sales anyway.

Is preloading a new thing on consoles? It's been happening for what must be like a decade on PC, so this sounds quite... humorous at this point.

By user base, its  55% or something for the PS4 version. The problem is the difference in tastes rather than userbase advantage. The gap will be bigger in other countries where the Xbox One isn't doing well.

The game has a Wii U version too now?

It's probably 90% worldwide lol. I honestly would not be surprised if FFXVI is going to be PS4/PC only.

Meh, XB1 gamers buy more of their games digitally and sony games only buy physical games. If we had digital numbers it would be a totally different story.

On UK it's 55-45 userbase not 66-33... WW where it's closer to 60-40-> 65-35 It will have sales 9:1 or even more skewed.

20% is still a pretty fat chunk of sales. No company would want to just lose 20% of their sales.

I do think it'll be re-release on Scorpio along with PC. Possibly Switch even as well. SE will milk the hell outta it because the development cost was likely sky high.

It would depend if they could get some extra money for being exclusive, be either less development cost, small payment from Sony (or smaller royalty). But yep there would need to be some rationale to skip 10% sales increase.

Lol, so much salt. With digital sales it over 1 million worldwide for Xbox one. That is more than justifiable for the Xbox one version. If we are thinking lifetime sales it will hit 2-3 million on Xbox one easily.

To be expected and I actually kind of expected worse.

Although SE should probably stop releasing so many FF games as Playstation exclusive if they really want to expand the franchise on the Xbox Platform. If not I kinda want to them to go playstation exclusive (maybe timed) and make the absolute most of the playstation hardware.

Nice use of sarcasm.

To the OP: Only the delusional and ignorant didn't see that coming.

Salt from who?

Yep, 1M digital sales for X1 in UK, it actually outsold PS4 version 9:1 when digital is accounted for.

A lot of users are upset because all the main featured ff games will be on Xbox pretty much. Just like when they were upset with msg being on Xbox. Selling around 1 million/ over a million FW is a huge deal for square.

That percentage applies to the UK only and the split is going in line with Type-0's ratios, though this time Microsoft marketed FFXV when it didn't for Type-0. I believe Type-0's worldwide ratio was 90% PS4/10% XBO.

Opportunity costs will also go into play. Would Square want to put in manpower, money, and time on porting to a console whose JRPG fanbase is tiny or allocate those things towards their future big titles for platforms that have much larger JRPG fanbases (e.g. PS4, PC)?

No one brought salt into this except you.  Maybe you're the one salty because high sales of FF on the PlayStation only propels the PlayStation as a more viable gaming platform than the Xbox.

Porting is very easy now days because Xbox one and PS4 have same architecture and hardly cost any money to do so. The ff engine does all the leg work so to speak. People are acting like they have to redo the graphics/sounds/code.
