Forums - Gaming Discussion - Switch specs Rumor

Decent specs if true, battery life is kind of low but if I do get the Switch I probably won't use it outside of my home much if at all.

Hopefully you can charge it without the dock...... 1 of my biggest fear of it......

3-5 hours of battery? Mmm. I think I'm fine with that, but I don't know if this is enough for some people. Also, what's the difference between the two models?

If previous leaks are accurate, the premium model at $300 has 4G LTE, more internal storage, and a bundled game, whereas the cheaper model at $250 has Wifi only, less internal storage, and no bundled game.

Will it be unlimited or will we have to pay a monthly price?

Battery life is better than expected if true

5200 MaH for the battery (w/Joycon batteries factored in) is pretty small.

The Google Pixel C battery with a Tegra X1 is 9200+ MaH, and granted that has a larger screen, but it also only runs the X1 at 80% peak clock (meaning its down-clocked significantly).

I'd be surprised if 5200 MaH gives you even 3 hours unless the Tegra chip Nintendo is using is massively downclocked in portable mode (which isn't a good thing).

Take into consideration that the X2 unlike the X1 is on a 16nm fab process as opposed to a 28nm process. couole that with a smaller dan due to less heat generated and a smaller screen there should be remarkable all round power draw benefits. It should be able to give at least 3hrs. The 5hr things though is a stretch. maybe if you are using the screen at 10% brightness.

Apparantly 256 CUDA cores at 921 Mhz yields about 471 GFLOPS 32bit FP.

Yup, spot on. This is why I say the switch is inherently a 720p console. But it would be a really good 720p console though. It has just about got too much power for 720p, so if devs keep their games to that target they should get some decent results. it's less then 4GB ofavailabe Mem for devs and shared 50GB/s bandwidth would be more than enough for 720p and toned down versions of PS4/XB1 games.

considering that visually this will play some pretty insane games (compared even with the Vita before it), I don't think 3-5 hours of battery life is bad at all. Especially when you consider that supposedly something like Breath of the Wild will visually LOOK the same on the dock as it does on the Switch handheld, pretty impressive

What kinda ram? guessing LPDDR3/4 ram. And i wonder how much of it is reserved for the OS. 512MB?

And if this leak is accurate, this puts it at a little over half the power of the XB1. Need more information!!!!

I can see how they can get 3.5-5hrs from that battery. One of the benefits of being a 720p screen. I really hope there is a high power mode for when docked though, cause as it stands this machine isn't gonna be able to run a fair number of the current gen games.

And how much internal storage? I'm guessing the internal storage will be used exclusively for game saves since using carts would mean it doesnt have to install games on internal storage.

its a handheld basically for gods sake, to be at half the power of the X1 and a dedicated mobile video game system is insanely impressive compared with what people have had in the past

If it's unlimited, I will personally spread my *** to Kimishima.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Yee its impressive for a handheld. But whats funny abiut this is that some people gave me grief for calling it a handheld. Apparently there are some that say it's a home console too.

I say it makes for a great handheld. but a poor home console. But time will tell though.

And lastly, it's easy to say it's impressive that a handheld is half as powerful as an XB1. Let's just not forget that by the time this is released the XB1 would be over 3yrs old.

Don't know, but it would be amazing if it is unlimited. I'd definitely pay the extra $50 for the premium model.

Agreed that would be a must have feature.
