Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why updated ports make sense for Nintendo fans

" Switch recieving a few updated ports"

A FEW? lol...
Mario Kart 8, Splatoon, Mario Maker, Smash Bros, Xenoblade, Skyrim, Pokemon Stars

And Breath of the wild is a WiiU game.

All those game are great, but this is certainly worrying that they make up almost half of the list of Switch games we know about...

The rest is really not mind blowing either, all the rest are sequels. Of course I'm really excited for BGE2, but I've been waiting for this game for 15 years.

For now, all this lacks ambition, where are the new characters? New IPs? Where are the third party AAA?

We'll know more on the 12th, but if I had to make my choice of buying the switch in 2017 based on the list of games we have now? My answer would be : "I'll wait at least until 2018"

There is nothing mind blowing about the Switch at the moment.

ya i understand the comparison you are trying to make, the problem is that is has nothing to do with what you originally said, "my iPhone can play similar games"

You said it could play games similar to Nintendo games, which is untrue, you cannot play games on iPhone that are comparable to the top Nintendo games.

Im also still waiting for you to show me all those PS4/XBO droughts.

Nintendo games didnt helped the wii u either. They arent as appealing. And I dont see any real logical reason third party would port their games to the switch (mobile arm cpu VERY similar to tablets/smartphones) but miss out on the 100 mio+ installed hw base on capable ios/android phones. Check the Numbers on sold iPhones or Galaxy phones per year.

Droughts:

Beginning of 2015 (after evolve) there was nothing released for xbox one i can remember yet. ps4 got order 1886 though.

Summer 2014 (For and after Watch Dogs) was nothing on both systems as well.

Beginning of 2014 wasnt as great as well.

And Beginning of 2016 was similar. The devision was march?

That again has literally nothing to do with what you said.

well if you add all releases possible that doesnt change much. Sure ps4 and xbox one got more games in general. but many of thise games arnt very popular or interesting.

Some of your mentioned games (like Raymen Legends) were even released on wii u as well, but you hadnt listed them in the wii u lirbary but in the ps4 library.

Als you just count wii u exclusives, but tons of third party games in ps4/xbox ones lists?

Thats was your statement:

You can see that 3-4 month droughts between exclusives was not uncommon at all.

According to wikipedia there are more then 500 games released on the wii u so far. That meanst in general 2 new games per week (4 years lifetime).

So were are your wii u droughs now?

I believe there will be plenty for everyone. Ports for those not wii u owners, and new games for us.

It has 500 games when including small digital releases, something i did not include with PS4/XBO list.

According to Nintendo latest financial results, Wii U has 109 retail games in Japan, 159 in America & 150 in Europe as of September.

Even if you exclude the late ports and unpopular titles from the PS4/XBO list, it is significantly better than what Wii U has.

I include 3rd party releases in PS4/XBO list because those are what sell PS/XB consoles and i listed Nintendo exclusives in the Wii U list because those are what sell Nintendo consoles.

I dont even get why are you are trying to argue this, its almost agreed by everyone that PS4/XBO have a steady flow of big releases while Wii U does not.

Without even trying or wanting to ever get close to a complete WiiU collection, I have owned more than 1/3 of the entire library. Have sold some. Thats insane.
