Forums - Movies & TV - Looks like Jack Reacher 2 could end up being a big flop for Cruise- 160 million WW as of 12/11/16

Last week it lost by a big marging to Madea, but all was not lost, it only cost 60 million to make. Not including what I can only imagine was an expensive ad campaign. Then it was the number one movie in America from Monday through Thursday. Sadly, Inferno probably took most of its demographic when it released this week plus mediocre word of mouth did not help.

So now with only 33 million in the tank, it could push to 40 million by the end of the weekend. Cubs being in one of the top markets did not help either as many men and some females stayed home.

It may just barely struggle to 60 million if it is lucky. I am sure overseas will push 100 million because you guys watch anything, but that is not the point. Cruise, despite a few struggles he had back when his PR was shot due to Oprah, SCientology, and Suri, is usually box office gold no matter what.

They had a 4 week span when this could have done much better, why launch it against madea on halloween and now we have many weeks of big movies coming out.

Just more bad planning from movie studios....

are you sure?;)

Too bad, I liked the movie alot.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Actually there was a lot of laughter in the theater. Which is good or bad considering it is an action movie.

Could have been better, was not bad though.

In my theater is was beacuse the jokes was funny and fit into the story, not beacuse they were bad.

But then again I'm from Sweden and english or american humor is like 2nd nature to us.

Saw the original and thought it was pretty good. My friends and I opted to watch Inferno yesterday which was better than I was expecting. I will probably catch the new Jack Reacher when it's on Blu-ray or available to stream.

the first one was ok.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Well then, it was much better than this one. Action wise. But I liked the original a lot. Maybe a 89, compared to a 75 I would give this.

I saw it in the theatre, I had fun with it, pop corn, a ice cold coke zero and a kit kat probably helped the movie a lot. =)

First one was okay and felt like I got my money's worth from a Redbox rental. I'll watch the second one once they have it in Redbox. I wouldn't be happy spending 10 dollars at a movie theater though but 2 dollars is fine. Yea, I'm a cheap bastard.

I saw it, it sucked. Didn't feel like a Jack Reacher movie at all. First one is better.

Good. Its a mediocre film at best.

It only needs a bit more then $20 million to at least recover its production budget. It been a pretty bad year for Paramount though a lot of their movies bombed at the box office.
