Forums - Gaming Discussion - Titanfall 2 isn't native 4K on PS4 Pro and it doesn't sound like many games will be

Really? Not native on the ps4 pro? lol.patch incoming after maybe?

In this instance, it likely wouldn't run at a native 4k on the Scorpio either. The Scorpio should be able to hit a native 4k functionally always with 1080p X1 settings, and fairly consistently with 1080p PS4 settings, but anything running at sub-900p on the X1, or sub-1080p on the PS4 (which TF2 does; last i checked it's 720p on the X1, and 900p on the PS4) is going to present a significant challenge. Looking at the X1 to Scorpio; we're talking about 4.6x more tflops, but 9x the resolution. The Scorpio's tflops are going to have to be worth considerably more than the X1's to pull it off.

If the game doesn't run 4K native then my 1080p TV won't be able to take advantage of 4K gaming.

I don't understand that logic. More than 1080p on 1080p monitor already equals sharper image. Game won't be running close to 4K pixel wise. Probably below or around 1440p.

Lol, you need to relax.

Wait people expected 60 fps game to run native 4K on PS4 Pro? That was so obvious...
Don't worry it won't be 4K 60 fps on Scorpio either.
Xbox One version runs at 720p 60 fps and 4K has 9 times more pixels to render compared to 720p. (0.92 million vs 8.3 million)

They were marketing GTX 1080 as 4K 60 fps card for that game, neither Scorpio or PS4 Pro will do that.

But fp16, the secret sauce that is going to be in Scorpio, too? And why stop here, make it also compute fp8, making it a 24tf machine.

This.

A $399.99 console won't do native 4k resolution on AAA games.

You'd be surprise on how many posters here think otherwise because it's a ps4.  You are right though. It will do native 4k on some less demanding games.. just like the scorpio. Though scorpio will get closer to achieving it.

I keep seeing people say this but can't seem to find all those posters that said it. Like I haven't seen them....

But I honestly this is no big deal in my opinion their checkered should be more than enough....I wonder if the Scorpio would be able to do it that much better? Well time will tell.....I won't have either the Pro or the scorpio before 2018 so I am not really all that worried about it either way lol.

Why? I didn't understand what he/she meant, seemed odd to me so I asked. I'm calm.

My point is that it was a joke. Obviousky no one that is aware of 4k and 1080p resolutions would suggest that they need 4k native to take advantge of their 1080p tv.

Again, a tf number is telling you next to nothing in terms of real world applications as no application will ever compute that much to reach these numbers.

I went through this in the beginning of this gen and still do. Computers are complex systems with many components relying on each other and they have to work together to get something on a screen.

Add to that that different games have different demand on the computing systems so there isn't even a remote rule of thumb.

Additionally expect a new generation of the gpu meaning a different uarch underneath, being more efficient at computing.

I dont think I will ever understand this native 4k craze of late. And I doubt anyone thought PS4pro would be running games at native 4k since it's specs were leaked in March. but here we are pretend g like this is some sort of news.

I am personally more interested to see how much better than 1080p its upressed games will be or how close to native 4k it's pseudo 4k will be.

What's even more interesting, is that we see how a more expensive scorpio sells on the merits of its "native 4kness" compared to something that does pseudo 4k and would most likely cost $100 less than the scorpio or more.

Call me crazy, but after its all said and done, I think what we all take from this is that resolution isn't as important as most would lead us to believe.

Scorpio does not sell on the fact that it can do native 4k. It sells solely on the fact that the competitor can't.

It's the same with 4k Bluray. Nobody gives a shit until someone can't do it.

While TFs isnt by any means a unit of measuring performance (espevially when we consider that when its talked about its only referring to the GPU which is just ome part of the many components that make up a system) its still a very good way to get a generalized ball park of the expected graphical performance we can get from a system.

Espevially when we have systems whose arvhitechtures are so similar either with eachother or with other systems on the market.

Eg, we know what an RX480. GTX1070, Tegra X1...etc can do under ideal circumstances. So it's really not that hard to realistically extrapolate from there on what other hardware based on very similar tech and configurations can do too. Not accurate, but it's the closest thing we can get.

No wonder. I heard not even the Blurays are native 4k.

Seriously, how is this news anymore? If Sony first party is not targeting native 4k and Cerny boasts about checkerboard rendering then who the hell could still be expecting native 4K? I don't get it...

I cannot imagine toilet-free life.

Kebabs have a unique attribute compared to other consumables. To unlock this effect you need to wolf down a big ass kebab really fast, like under 10 minutes or so and wait for the effect to kick in. If done correctly your movements should feel unbelievably heavy to the point where you literally cannot move at all.

I got no reason to buy this. Will wait till PS5.
