I was thinking it was odd to see no touchscreen functionality during the latest trailer. But it does make a lot of sense after thinking about it. Nintendo did not confirm or deny the existence of a touchscreen.

- You will not be doing asymmetrical gameplay like on the WiiU because the Switch has to be docked while on home console play. So it would be a waste of resources to have a touchscreen if it cannot be used to play games. And frankly, it is better to remain consistent and limited with the gameplay possiblities for the Switch.

- It will reduce costs significantly, as well as a slight improvement over the battery life.

- Frankly, a better approach to market the Switch is as a videogame system rather than a tablet replacement. If I were to own the Switch, I would still carry my phone around and my laptop or tablet. They would be much better and more efficient at doing the tasks I need, while the Switch can stay focused on playing games. I do not think a whole lot of people will be replacing their tablets with the Switch.

What do you think. Touchscreen. Yay or Nay?

Yes, mainly for 3ds and Wii U virtual console.

Hell yes, I have not seen a tablet in 2016 that doesn't have a touchscreen

It has a touchscreen. Emily Rogers and Laura Kate have both said so, and since they basically got everything else right I'd say they deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Besides, it would be completely idiotic not to have one anyway. How would Mario Maker work on NS? How would DS/3DS Virtual Handheld work? Let alone just OS and modern game play it would gimp the system in many other aspects. What if Nintendo wanted Super Mario Run or Pokemon Go or versions of some of their mobile games?

Who the hell even makes LCD panels of that size that aren't touch based, lol. It's not 2003 anymore.

Yes, because i think it will work as any normal android tablet when you are not playing games on it

The answer is yes.

Trust me, it's definitely there. They just didn't want people to focus on it, since primarily they are targeting core gamers as early adopters. People that want/need dual analog.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

Yes. Would be stupid if it didn't. The last device with a screen I held in my hands that didn't have a touchscreen was the GameBoy Advance. Touchscreen is needed for Virtual Console, digital BC of WiiU if it's there and compatibility with their mobile games. It's also way more convenient to navigate the UI with a touchscreen.

Yes!

$5 can open up a whole realm of possibilities for it as a tablet, BC 3DS, DS device as well as a slightly more robust handheld. I understand games on the handheld need to work on the TV but there's no reason why we shouldn't have optional touch for certain navigation and input. I think Devs should be free to make some experiences which are specific to the tablet/touch screen. No one care if some cheap, cute app isn't playable on the TV. Nintendo would be limiting the device for no reason

Are you suggesting handheld-mode-only games?
