With 3 months of Xbox victory over PS4 on the NPDs, Microsoft must be pleased. However, if you look at Amazon, PS4 Pro is doing very well. It is the number one selling console. It is still weeks from release. November looks like it will be an NPD slaughter for Xbox One. PS4 Pro should be a mega hit.

Lol u guys still counting on Amazon ?

The Ps4 pro ist behind the 2TB Xbox One S sku on the Amazon yearly ranking
The 2TB Xbox One S sku sold ~ 100k in it's first month of release.

So based on Amazon, The Ps4 Pro will sell less than 100k

... not
Stop using Amazon rankings this way!

Sony could finally get that 2:1 margin with PS4 coming out. Important to note that doesn't mean an increased install base though as people like me will be selling off their launch PS4 after upgrading to Pro. Still gonna be impressive though

Ms or any other company would not be pleased with outselling a competitor in one country. Come on, NPD whoppi.

Of course they would be, especially when that one market is their biggest.

I can definitely see both sides to this. For one, North America(I'm assuming NPD covers the entire North American region and not just the USA) is a huge market for gaming so it is a victory there but also MS is getting outsold 2:1 worldwide, so that aspect would be disappointing to them I believe.

We will see if people choose to upgrade to the Xbox one s or not.

My point was that it does have things that would be considered an upgrade where as the ps4 s does not which you reinforced.  Even the original ps4 wasn't exactly bulky.

the ps4 s is not suposed to be an upgrade, the pro is the upgrade. original ownes would jump to it, new buyers who dont want to spend the extra money will buy the slim.

Like radek said, the x1s is not much of an upgrade if all it has is a 4k bluray players and they held the hdr update on the original, if anything consumers should be angry at MS for not allowing hdr on original x1 and forcing people to upgrade.

And also, dont think ps4 pro is stealing only ps4 sales now, Im pretty sure a lot of people planing on geting the x1 decided to wait for the pro and skip the x1.

Umm ok?

both of you repeated what I said. I wasn't as detailed because it's kind of common sense. The ps4 s doesn't offer a reason to buy it if you already own a ps4 while the Xbox one s does if you own an Xbox one.

Microsoft won NPD 3 months in a row, well done and much deserved. However the PS4 is still killing it 2:1 worldwide but the point is that competition is great for us gamers. I do feel Sony have been a bit too comfortable in the last 12 months and have become slightly less consumer friendly, where Microsoft have been relaxing their policies. We just have to look at the inclusion of a UHD blu ray drive in the Xbox One S and their allowance of FULL MODS to Fallout 4 and Skyrim Remastered. Where if you go back 3 years ago they had a parity clause in place for indie games coming out for both PS4/Xbox One, always online and no second hand games policy. I feel it is now Sony's time to show consumers so good will. Allow external hard drive support, the ability to play audio CDs and relax their mod policy and I will be happy. Or they could allow UHD blu ray support in the Pro :P

Totally agree with this. Sony kindoff let themselves go a bit this year. I hope that its was mostly down to massive preparations for 2017, but they left room to breath for the competition. Still, the overall standings wil not change, and the console race still seems as a console slaughter, but I should give credit where credit is due, and 3 months of NPD is a nice achievment for MS, and shows that is certain regards they can still be somewhat competitive

Also last gen the 360 clobbered the PS3 in the U.S. by around 20 million units right?  It's about 1.5+million units behind this gen?  It's hard to imagine they leap past the ps4 and end up 20 million ahead by the end of this generation.  This could end in a monumental swing.

They are ranking Xbone S in the wrong section. Should be topping the chartz in 4K Blu-ray players.

For sure. I'm a Sony guy but certain protocol of theirs confuses me. Nintendo and Microsoft are not free of this kind of behavior either. Each company has shown cases where they are restrictive on their consumers(Sony with no external assets in Fallout 4, Nintendo with region locking the Wii U and not having HDMI out in the original Wii even though it was physically capable internally and Microsoft with the parity clause/always online/not second hand games idea) so we cannot expect an all-perfect console manufacturer.
