Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Iphone 7 is the biggest joke I have ever seen, cost as much as two PS4 Pros, no headphone-jack

I use an iPhone right now. I've owned tons of brands and varying phones since cell phones replaced beepers/pay phone voicemail checks for major corporations.
I don't understand the hate it gets.

May I ask why there's so much IPhone 7 hate when there are other very popular phones exploding in customers hands? The Iphone 7 is not without its merits and it has the caveat of not sending it's buyers to the hospital, literally.

Cause Samsung is doing something about it and after the mass recall, everyone will have a perfectly fine Note 7? The odds are supposedly 35 per million shipments. And that one has gotten its fair share of hate, just go to reddit and etc. But what won't change is the lack of a headphone jack until perhaps the next itteration if Apple actually listens.

What I will say to that every other hate against it is just :/ I think the new iphone is pretty great apart from the headphone jack.

The problem is that even on jack you could only use apple phone and now without jack they are selling very expensive adapters and special phones, so it's a problem. Besides, I would rather have a more robust and longer batery life instead of a thinnier phone.

I think that the biggest problems is that Apple insists on the Lightning port, while all other phones will use USB type-C. We will end up with a mess. Removing the jack is a good move, replacing it with their proprietary nonsense is stupid. Mind that removing the jack you get space that could go for more mAH.

I'm not into buying Apple stuff just because of their pricing and proprietary nonsense. I'm also not much into Android high-ends, because current premium tier mid-end devices actually do a lot of stuff, unless you plan to game on them, so I'm not paying more just for crappy mobile games. I have a Moto X Play and for a phone that costed less than half most flagships (1/3 of an iPhone), it's fluid, camera is amazing and I even got a massive battery. I would say that a good deal now would be the Moto Z Play instead of any of the current flagships. Even the 64GB model of the Moto G4 costs only 300 on Amazon. That's a steal.

I doubt this Iphone 7 does as well as any of the other Iphones. People have been nonstop talking crap about it. My GF has an upgrade option and has been an Iphone fan for a long time but she's not getting the 7 because of the headphone jack thing. She's probably going to get the Iphone 6XL.

Well, we can't really compare the slight problem of needing the packed-in adaptor to use your phone with a situation where the device is exploding in people's hands, pockets, hurting little kids, being forbidden on planes. One is an engineering decision, other is the lack of competence from engineers. I'm surprised that people still want this phone instead of their money back. It's a badly designed crap, there's no other way to put it.

There is some truth to that.

I also agree with you on the headphone jack removal, it's not a problem in itself per se (for me at least), it's only a problem because Apple stupidly didn't replace lightening with USB-C. I am not getting wired lightening headphones that don't even work with ..... Macs and Macbooks

Why are people acting like this is a bad phone?

Performance benchmarks for the iPhone 7 are best in class (the chipset is FAST and actually optimized), the camera is best in class, also for what it's worth I find iPhones far more durable than Samsung phones, the battery life is quite good too, a full hour of extra battery above the iPhone 6S which already had good battery life is great.

It's a good phone. Even the headset stuff is overblown ... it comes with physical earphones and a dongle that lets you use the earphones straight out of the box with nothing else needed to buy. What's the big problem really? You're not being forced to use wireless earphones if you don't want to.

Now whether you want to pay extra for it is up to you. Also who's paying $800 for this? Most people get their phones on contract.

If you have an iPhone 7 there is maybe one phone on the market that might be better and that's the Galaxy S7 Edge (fuck no to Note, next time try not to have exploding phones, Samsung) and the iPhone 7 more than holds its own and is better in several ways.

Well... It actually wasn't the Note 7 that exploded on that kid's hand. It was something else I believe. But the removable of the headphone jack is nonsense and it is a more of an inconvience for a longer period of time than the Note 7 Situation. Yes those batteries were badly engineered hence why Samsung is replacing the phones with batteries that don't suck. The phone itself isn't badly enginnered and its Camera even beats the iphone 7's camera in virtually all comparisons.

No one is denying the Note 7 isn't a disaster but it is a disaster that will be replaced soon enough. What won't is the lack of a headphone jack. Yes you get an adapter but it is an incovience for the life of the device. You can't charge it while listening to music and considering it effectively requires you to unplug and replug when you want to listen/charge, it will decrease the amount of times the port will allow you to plug and unplug before it dies. So essentially, it cuts the life of the port by a lot since there is always a certain amount of times you can unplug/plug a connection into a port. Oh and of course, people will lose the adapter since it is so tiny and will have to get replacement ones. On top of that, Apple will require companies to get a license for lighting port in order to make wired headphones to work with the iphone 7 which will increase the price of the wired headphones if you want to use the lighting port.
