I think that the biggest problems is that Apple insists on the Lightning port, while all other phones will use USB type-C. We will end up with a mess. Removing the jack is a good move, replacing it with their proprietary nonsense is stupid. Mind that removing the jack you get space that could go for more mAH.
I'm not into buying Apple stuff just because of their pricing and proprietary nonsense. I'm also not much into Android high-ends, because current premium tier mid-end devices actually do a lot of stuff, unless you plan to game on them, so I'm not paying more just for crappy mobile games. I have a Moto X Play and for a phone that costed less than half most flagships (1/3 of an iPhone), it's fluid, camera is amazing and I even got a massive battery. I would say that a good deal now would be the Moto Z Play instead of any of the current flagships. Even the 64GB model of the Moto G4 costs only 300 on Amazon. That's a steal.
