Turok 2: Seeds of Evil.

Why? Because it wasn't just running down hallways and shooting stuff, and its levels were massive. You could (and had to) go back to previous levels too. Cool weapons. Good music too; and it had to be good because you were listening to the same theme for hours at a time.

Poor Rol had to pick a game nobody has heard of because he's so stubborn and boycots all HD platforms.

Doom I & II, Quake I, and GoldenEye 007 are definite contenders for the top spot.

Though technically the 20th century ran from 1901 to 2000, not 1900 to 1999, so if we include the year 2000 then Perfect Dark would definitely be my favorite.

Yes, it depends on this technicality, but Perfect Dark was a significantly improved version of Goldeneye 64!

No, music was much better in GE, thicker atmosphere and a better multiplayer. Not really close.

My favourite back then was Duke Nukem 3D.

Half Life is the better game though, but I had more fun with Duke.

Doom.

Are you saying there was HD platforms before the year 2000?

You know what I meant. He had the same mentality back then regardless of what they were called.

Yeah but to be fair to Nintendo their consoles were decently powerful back then.

Yeah and N64 was kind of a powerhouse when it came to console FPS.

Yes, I want to count Hexen! An excellent game series. Especially Heretic II, which they actually made in third person.

That's an impressive list of FPS-games! How times have changed. And myself has changed too, I don't care about FPS games nearly as much today as I did in da past.

Glad to see another Hexen fan! I loved the labyrinthine level design and of course the weapons. Cleric was my favorite

Yeah, I'm less interested in FPS games too nowadays. They're just so scripted now. What made old school shooters fun was the sense of exploration and improvisation.

Music (and I guess atmosphere) is a matter of opinion, and the music in Goldeneye is fantastic.

But as others have said, the multiplayer in Perfect Dark was best-in-class.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Blimey, 294 votes in and Goldeneye and Half-life are just one vote apart!
