With games like Dark Souls 3 and Uncharted 4 as the competition? I doubt it.
Possible. Really though, how can it not be UC4 at this point? (granted NMS hasn't released yet....)

It's certainly got stiff competition, that's for sure. I'm hoping sites don't go for something generic and actually consider the tech behind NMS. As you (I think it was you) pointed out, it HASN'T got pop in. What some people are mistakingly calling pop in is in fact the miracle of this game. To think that maths alone is building this game with artists providing the pieces for it to construct landscapes, creatures, music, sounds effects, animal sounds, buildings, ships, guns, weather, the universe, the galaxy, the space stations etc. ... Absolutely mind blowing. THIS is why I think it stands a chance of winning game of the year.
The PS5 Exists.

You jest but even Sean Murray has said he's been approached by some people who want to be able to give their pupils a sense of how big our own universe is.

We have discussed NMS on a couple occassions, buy I have never talked about the pop-in. Somebody more learned than I brought it up. Side note: What a totally choice time to have my ps4 packed away in storage!
