Eh I have no issue paying $60. Still dont know why portable games are cheaper to begin with.

Because historically, they're old tech and play on a tiny screen. If you're getting a 1/3rd less immersion and a 1/3rd less tech, you shouldn't pay more than 1/3rd the price.

I suppose with the NX being a hybrid (if true), none of that matters since you're losing out on nothing.

I voted for 3ds game prices, but I wouldn't be against a scaling price for the quality level of said game.

60$ because Cartridges. But only if we're talking real crazy-fast carts, not slow-ass SD cards. I wouldn't have a problem paying extra for no loading times whatsoever.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

I was wanted to make a thread about this too wuss to.

Nintendo will have a varied pricing model, like what they have now but i think  they'll practice it more. The range isn't important, but if I had to use numbers, it's be anywhere from free(iap) to $60. Prices will depend on effort(dev cost) as well as perceive value. With their new unified development model, we will be seeing more Captain-toad-treasure-tracker-like games. What I mean by that is they will be using assets from another game(s) to make offshoot games. Most will be smaller games but not necessarily smaller games. For example Zelda:BotW is most likely using assets (not necessarily 3D/visual assets, but can be codes, engine, etc) used in Xenoblade.

Example: mainline Zelda and Mario will obviously be $60, smaller game based on mainline game $40-50. small mini game to side scroll $20-30 and so-on.
Then you got your indie and eshop like games. Similar to their current pricing models.

Uhhh $60. As someone who has done game development. I laugh at anyone who states otherwise. It's nothing more than a pipe dream. The kind of media does not dictate the price. The cost of making games will not change. Using cartridges are also more expensive than disks. It's very hard to stay profitable and if the games are sold for $40. It will not be worth a developers time nor money to release a game on that console.... period. Unless there is some magic voodoo with the system that drastically reduces the price, time, and effort of making games. It's not going to happen. If it does. I will be shocked and will need to say that the NX will likely become the #1 console of choice for a lot of games. Plus the amount of copies of the games that will need to be sold to be profitable will need to be doubled. $60 is hardly sustainable anymore and $80 is a fair barging ground for developers and gamers. Again, costs are going up, development sizes are going up, the time to make a game is going up. Many developers are beginning to struggle and the gap between AAA and indie is growing.

So I vote for $60. It's a win for the gamers and it's accepted. It's risky for developer so those extra sales do matter and used game sales do sting badly.

closer to 40$ than 60$.

Most of their games are smaller in scope, and graphic work, than the bigger AAA games from multiplats.
And if this is them going after the handheld market, with a tablet, they will want to go with what customers are used too.

3DS games usually arnt 60$.

60$

If it has the design, content, and production value of a full retail game, it can charge a full retail price. If it's designed like a smaller, lighter, mobile experience, it ought to scale its price tag down accordingly. I expect to see the full range of pricing strategies like you'll find on Steam or PSN.

I think no more than $50; of the two options $40 is more likely. handheld games have to be priced lower regardless of if it can be connected to a TV. By the fact they are on cartridges makes me lean more toward them being considered handheld first.

A different pricing system. A Xenoblade X kind of game is going to cost 60€, but a 2D Mario is definitively not.

You know it deserves the GOTY.
