I cant say for the other 3, but for Zelda thats just merely their opinion, not a fact. For me it is easilydeserving of that score, and aparently for the reviewers.Heck, even by todays standard it would be that far off, easily staying in the 90s.

Uhm... Of course it's "merely" an opinion. Do you think what you're saying is a fact?

Of course not, but I put it nonetheless because sometimes people think you are being intitled when you say your opinion, even though everything that we write here that dosent have an official source is an opinion by extent.

That is a opinion I strongly disagree with then.If it were me, I would have awarded it 100, but 99 is good enough!

Yeah, I don't think it even deserves 100.

We agree to disagree then =)

Going to hop back in to defend GTA IV. I played through it twice. It had it's failings, but I liked it, and was one of the votes that has it in (distant) second. And to belabor my opinion, I like all of these games enough to say that I think they deserve their scores, in spite of the fact there are games I like more than these ones. Analysing and comparing meta is a mostly fruitless task in general. Doing it it with games spread across a 10 year gap is even more difficult. Or supremely easy, depending on how much weight you give your opinion as opposed to the opinions of others. As I suspected ( well, basically knew ) the older games have a much smaller body of reviews as compared to GTA IV as well. That makes it's meta score more impressive.

I havent played OoT, but I recently bought it on 3DS.

These are all very different games and the only one I feel is still great is Tony Hawk 2.

You know, that's another point that is not addressed. If many reviewers nowadays were tasked to review this game, the metascore wouldn't be up there in 99. There would've been many reviews that would've muddied the score overall for a myriad of reasons. And I agree with you that GTA IV holding up with a metascore of 98 after 64 reviews is quite impressive, and I'm 100% sure that if OoT had many more reviewers, it would have 98, maybe even less. A lot of people love hating on GTA IV, but the game did pave way for other games which improved on its base, GTA V being a good example.

64 on PS3, 89 on XB360! And since both the 360 and PS3 had "exclusive" reviews, it's total is probably over 100.

Theres a 98 club? And Mario Galaxy isn't a part of it!?

I haven't played enough of SC and THPS2 to really judge, although they were pretty fun from what I remember.

I finished OoT and only played a short bit of GTA IV where I played around on multiplayer and glitched around on geometry so by default I guess OoT would be #1 there.

OoT doesn't even deserve over 90. I have no idea why people harp on about this game, the controls were enough to make me rage quit. As for the other games i would put them in the 80's at best. GTA4 is probably my least favourite GTA game and is probably a good example of critics being paid for high scores.

Yeah about controls dude, it invalidates your entire argument.

did you play the game when it first released? Did you? Most likely not. Back then, those controls were amazing. Just like the old Tomb Raider games.

these days though, for example, the old Tomb Raider controls are so freaking horrible because we are used to smoother movement. Like its common sense dude that a game from the N64 era would have terrible controls when you grow up with newer controls.

And as for "getting paid for high scores" look up this thing called an opinion on Google. It shouldn't be too difficult. Just type "define opinion" in the search bar. I promise you it'll help you out so freaking much it's amazing.

GTA4 is the most over rated game of all time to me. Soul caliber and Pro Skater 2 are over rated as well. I haven't played Ocarina of Time but i imagine that'll the best as so many seem to rave on about it.
