Whether Pokemon Sun/Moon ends up being good or not is up in the air, but based on the 20 or so new species shown thus far, I think this generation has some very solid new Pokemon.

You have a Legendary Space Lion that devours the Sun.

A proper Lightning Bug (har har har).

A simply designed yet distinct woodpecker.

A nasty looking Fire/Poison type lizard that can poison anything.

The long-overdue Koala.

A fly that somehow manages to be conventionally cute.

And a Ghost/Fairy that seems to be a self-parody of the new Pikachu ripoff that comes out every generation.

Not every design is golden (did we really need a mongoose Donald Trump?), but I'm already excited to start running into these guys. And although you can say that these new species look too much like Digimon or Real Animals, they seem diverse enough so they at least are not fulfilling your ideal vision of what Pokemon look like in unique ways.

I'm in love with Mimmikyu right now, but the rest are pretty good though. Drampa is hideous though.

They're fine and I can't wait to get Moon. Everyone's playing Pokemon Go and I'm all like, yeah, bring on a REAL Pokemon game already. lol I'm so ready.

I like most of them and what I also like it's the new abilities they are introducing.

The only one that I really dislike is that ugly fish and the bear is super weird. I don't think the fly is cute but I don't dislike it. The battery-like bug is not that bad and it will probably evolve very fastly into the much better looking Vikavolt. Many people dislike Popplio but I think it's cute.

I like pretty much all of them except the bear, the fish, and the Trump one. I mean, each gen always has a few bad designs imo.
