Forums - Gaming Discussion - Economic impact of Brexit

Economic problems are obvious. Many businesses and jobs will move to EU countries, Scotland and Northern Ireland might leave, which would greatly reduce the GDP to sub France levels.
Most of the changes will only start being visible after they officially left (some time in 2018)

This is probably just an immediate effect. Things should balance themselves out soon enough.

The actual split is due to take 2 years before becoming fully effective. If some side doesn't chicken out or fuck up before then.

Just to explain, not exactly. Invoquing Article 50 to leave Europe starts a round of negociations about how the country leaves. When the negociation end, the country leaves. In case the EU can't come to an agreement within a period of 2 years, the split become active anyway. So, 2 years is the maximum time to become effective, not a mandatory period. But, as the negociations have to be agreed each country of EU (now 27 countries), it could very much takes 2 years.

Now, for people thinking that EU is good for economy. Please think that even when you leave, you still face a kafka-esque, bureaucratic, lengthy process. And even if UK announced the referendum more than 1 year ago, the actions to do both for UK to leave and EU to overcome it are totally unprepared. France and Germany are to meet to think about what to do.

The Commonwealth country's are watching intently as our markets might also take a hit being historically tied to the UK.

Might be interesting to see if this gives Australia' the momentum again to try and leave the Commonwealth.

Seems like a terrible way to do a poll, scotland and ireland wanted to stay in EU, but the UK left anyway.......

It seems to me the United Kingdoms have to work united to stay united, when you start separating these countries it might have a really bad impact on England itself, I think if everyone agreed and they stept out of the EU united it wouldn't have a lasting impact, but now it might.

Whoa there, Northern Ireland! Not the Republic of Ireland, thankfully the Republic got its independence from the UK many years ago. But yeah The Republic of Ireland has no intention of leaving the EU.
