The Future of the Vita is ?

The Vita's best days are still to come. 15 6.10%

I love the game selection... 49 19.92%

Sony has abandoned the Vita years ago. 182 73.98%

The vita is dead in Sony's mind. If they don't support it, how can anyone else? I doubt they'll go back into handheld gaming and focus more on releasing mobile games.

It's future is basically just Japan support. Notable titles like dragon quest builders, dragon quest heroes, world of Final Fantasy etc releasing on it because of Japan.

Vita is done, it is continually loosing support for applications, and Sony is slowly draining it of features. It is not getting any updates to tie it into the new PSN like PS4 and the smartphone apps.

The future of Sony handhelds I think is very interesting though. I believe we will see Sony release a handheld/phone hybrid in the next couple of years. It will be fully compatible with all of the PS4 ecosystem. This will give it a huge bank of applications and games from day one, and not require it to sell blazes out of the gate.

With Kaz sayong smartphones are lacking in innovation, and Sony trying to create its own OS and Ecosystem with PS4 and PSN, I think the writing is on the wall, and they want to slowly exit the current smartphone market, and try to innovate their way into the next wave of mobile craze.

Did the Vita ever get "real" support for applications besides the obvious like Netflix? As for future handhelds, they already tried the "game/phone hybrid" with the Xperia Play, so I doubt they'll bother with that again.

Indie games which I must say I've been thoroughly enjoying as of late.

I think a "PSOS" for cell phones might be a good idea. Sony phones could tie in directly to the Playstation Store and access an App section, a well as play PS1/PSP/minis/PSVita games.

Only $199.00.  And don't ask about the memory cards until after the initial purchase.

Dragon's Crown rocks on this thing.

1) Will Sony ever switch focus from small Indie titles to a more heavy focus of big name AAA titles ?

2) Will we ever see a AAA GTA, Metal Gear Solid or Gran Turismo on the Vita ?

3) Are you happy with what the Vita has done in the past 5 years ? What are your thoughts ?

1. Nope

2. Nope

3. Nope

The Vita has been a huge commercial failure for Sony.

I'd be surprised if you'd be able to find brand new PlayStation Vita hardware and software in U.S. retail stores after this year.
