Actually, I do think marvel movies suck, it's the same thing over and over, don't know how people like it

Well if for you its always the same. Somehow there are millions that like them.

I'm not one of them.

But Warcraft is definately not more of the same :)

Around the Network

just my opinion... I'm not a big fan of comics anyway, :D

I just don't think it's fair to give civil war a 9/10 and warcraft, a 4/10

I enjoyed it. Pacing issues asside, the movie made me and the other people in the room laugh a few times and the acting was quite good.

What? Being picky?

Dude, i were completely honest from what i've seen, no i am not the BIGGEST fan but i don't need to be to be able to formulate a opinion.
So just because i didn't like the execution of the movie, you think i should shut the fuck up and accept it just to trick Blizzard into following the same recipe for the next one? Hell no. I rather let them know where they fucked up.. The movie needed a better script, especially the monolog's and dialog's which was like watching a B-movie, written by teenagers and it ruined the entire immersion cause the shitty dialog's was cringy as hell.

I don't like the subtle way you are telling me that i am being picky just to ruin the chances for a new movie to be made..
Well if they intend to suck at one of the most important aspect of what makes a movie great again, Warcraft is better off without getting added to the list over : Games that became movies but failed at it.

Also, you don't even need to like movies to see that the monolog/dialog script's was poorly written, it's like they just slapped the entire movie together and rushed it out, adding tons of effect's to cover up their horrible script. I loved a lot of things with the movie but damn it, those moment's get detroyed as soon someone opens their mouth and say something incredible badly written content which fail to convince the audience

I agree. I'm honestly tired of movie studios taking gamers for idiots that will accept whatever lazy half-baked tripe they turn out.

Listen up studios :

(1)- Hire good or at least respectable directors. They make a HUGE difference in film quality. It's nearly impossible for a film to be good if the director is mediocre to poor.

(2)- Hire good writing talent. Same as above.

(3)- DON'T try to monetize games with no plot, or a plot so thin that you have to just make it up as you go along. (eg : Angry Birds, Tetris???).

(3a)- If you MUST make content based on some vapid source material, at least make it a kids-focused Netflix series or something. Stretching that garbage out for 90+ minutes and expecting people to pay $10/ticket is insulting. But 20 minute episodes our kids can click on once in a while, fine.

So yeah, if it's not well made, I hope it fails. People accepting mediocre to garbage-tier product is just sending the wrong message.

Yeah! I agree with you 100%!

I wish they had done the Arthas story line. They could have split it into 2 movies Warcraft:The Frozen Throne with the WOTLK cinematic as the ending scene and then part 2 'Warcraft:Wrath of the Lich King"

Hopefully the movie doesnt bomb so we can see that happen...

I disagree. Arthas story line is even more convoluted. They would need to introduce too many things at once, which was already a problem in this one. They would need to properly introduce demons, the scourge, elves (due to Sunwell scenes) among other things.

Arthas story is one of my favorites, but the universe must be well established before it can be told.

By the way. It seems the movie is sitting on 70M, before China/US opening. Both should be big markets.

Still, not sure about being profitable with that 160M price tag, if that really doesn't have marketing costs included. (Consider that a positive bottom line is not enough to justify such a risky continuation, or even to tag it as a sucess)

Hopefully it will send many players back to WOW and push the next expansion sales. If that happens and Blizzard really believe in their cinematic universe, maybe we get a second movie.

Indeed far too much to be covered in a single 2 hour movie if you wanted to go all the way from his childhood, training... heck even his horse which served him well, died, he carried back to bury it... only to return as the LK and raise it as his undead steed, his horse alone has more story than some of the things hollywood tries to make into movies badly... I again go to Angry birds here lol... how... can you consider making a movie of that, was their a film about tetris or columns?

I think this movie is going to struggle to make a profit

Well Universal had a extremely successuf year last year this year is going to be sup par but I still think The Secret Life of Pets and Jason Bourne have a shot at being pretty profitable.  Disney is really dominating the box office this year even more so the Universal did last year they already have two movies that made over a billion world wide and could have at least two more the rest of the year.

You do know that the bolded aren't records being broken right?  They are arbitrary stats shot out to try to entice the crowds to go see it.

These would be records:

best opening -insert timeframe here- in the history of -insert place here-

fastest -insert stat here- ever

made the most money of any -insert category here- ever

we have a record here
