$40 on PC isn't expensive at all. TF2 cost about the same when it was popular iirc. Eventurally went free to play.

I do agree, $60 on consoles, where it won't even be that big or keep a strong playerbase, is terrible.  This game is horrible on console btw.  I got to about level 20 in the beta on both platforms and its just a much better experience on PC.  Console aiming lulz.

It still doesn't excuse the lack of a $40 option on console though does it? Many people prefer console gaming for various reasons. Yes, friends are on there, so people should buy on PC and play alone? Yes a mouse might be better than a controller to aim but there isn't cross platform play so what does it matter? No one really cares about these bonus extras you get with the Origins Edition when it is locking them out of buying the game to begin with. £55 btw for Overwatch on PSN, Uncharted 4 and Doom (which have Campaign and MP) are £50. That's some crap pricing right there.

Hmm, pie.

Based on what we have in this game right now, 4 modes and each mode has 3 different maps so that's 12 maps and 21 different characters with different abilities for a multiplayer only game, I think it might be a bit expensive. Well, adding a campaign would be great, but this is a moba/team arena fps, so whatever. As long as the future maps/characters are free, which they will be, I think 40 US dollars for the standard edition is well worth it. I can confidently say that Blizzard will put tons of support for this game. And I think there might be future expansion tho.

Btw I have spent way more than $40 on other F2P moba games. At least in this game you can unlock skins by playing.

I know, metacritic is the devil and whatnot, but still, you heard the game is awesome because the game is really good, but... really good with a premium game price tag and really the jump in and play game style is more like TF2, Hearthstone and League of Legends to me... all of which are F2P. Think that is why there are suggestions that if there was a single player campaign it would be clear why there is a full retail price to what could otherwise be mistaken for a F2P game.

Why would you mistake it for a free to play game? Simply because it looks like TF2? That's simply outrageous. You can't just wish for every multiplayer game to be F2P.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

It's $79.99 here on PSN, $74.90 on Amazon. Overpriced.
Same price as Doom which has both single and multi player.
GW2 is still $79.99 on PSN here, bought it for $50 at retail. Still rather steep.

The bigger question should be asked. Where's the cut scenes that were shown during the launch event. I smell either some sort of online mission mode, or something else.

Oh. So because it's MP only, everyone should be allowed to play it for free. Yeah! I GET IT NOW! IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE!

Honestly, do you guys hear yourselves?

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

It's online only WITH Microtransactions at a $100 AUD price point, it's main and active competitor is actually Team Fortress 2... A free to play title.
There isn't even many game modes or maps either.

Anyway, I'm personally bored with Overwatch now, so it's likely shelved untill new content comes out... I have far to many games to be playing than to keep playing the same old Multiplayer, the population will plummet with this game.

Those are not actual micro transactions. And the community will be strong for awhile. Just because you don't understand why doesn't mean a large group of people don't find this game fun. And tf2 is in no way an actual competitor to Overwatch right now. You're silly to think otherwise. (PS: tf2 wasn't free)

edit: it's not fair to look at the price in Australia. Most people don't even have to pay half that amount to get this game.

They're Microtransactions by it's very definition.
"Microtransaction is a business model where users can purchase virtual goods via micropayments. Microtransactions are often used in free-to-play games to provide a revenue source for the developers."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microtransaction

Sure... You don't have to buy them, but the monetary pricing is still there for things like decals and voice clips, calling them something else doesn't hide the fact that they are indeed microtransactions.

And Team Fortress 2 is free (Maybe not on console, but certainly on PC).
http://store.steampowered.com/app/440/

They are also the same "genre".

If people find enjoyment out of the game, good for them, but I believe in criticism where criticism is due so that companies can improve upon with successive releases or patches... And I expect more out of Blizzard.
And FYI. I do own the game.
