Yes, it matters where you announce a console.

With Nintenddo declining to show the machine off at E3 it needs another venue to introduce it to the world. Should they hold an event in Tokyo or Kyoto in Japan. Or should they have a big press event in New York like Sony had for the PS4?

In my opinion the US makes more sense because it is a more important market for home consoles. Also announcing it in the west has the implication that Western 3rd parties are onboard. The West is receptive to games from Japan and the West but it would be awkward to show off a game like Madden or Mass Effect in Japan who are generally less enthusiastic about such games.

They could also hold an online event but that detracts from the spectacle of a press covered hands-on event.

Best case scenario would be a simulcast from the US and Japan on the same day if you ask me. What say you?

Yeah, I agree with you. Unveiling it in the west seems to make more sense. The audience overall is bigger and can get more people on board with the console, and revealing those big 3rd party games for the system would be a good move. It would be great if they put it on a good time, so that as many people as possible can watch it.

Japan would be great, don't get me wrong, but it's a much smaller, focused, limited base, and Japan is kinda weird with consoles now. They can do a reveal at a slightly later time, and it'll be fine. Japanese focused games for them would be a better move too, and maybe a shooter. They're really starting to grow on Japanese people.

If they do a digital unveiling, I can se it bein announced worldwide. It will release in Japan first, though, and then the West.

Sony announced the PS4 in the market its predecessor performed worse.

Microsoft announced the Xbox One in the market its predecessor performed better.

So Nintendo should announce the NX in Europe because it's the market the Wii U performed worse. Besides, that way Reggie wouldn't be there, which is a plus.

It's going to be a world wide digital event no doubt much like an ND, everything will run as smoothly as possible that way, the'll be no location per say especially as NX is already confirmed to have a world wide release.
