Lol its published by Sony and the deals were ironed out with mojang before they ever bought the series.

Thanks Sony!

OT: incredible performance by this game in Japan.  It's well over 2m WW too.  Probably around 2.5m including digital.  Will cross 3m easily.

I wonder how high it can go in Japan.

Dont thank Sony, thank Microsoft so.....

Says published by SCEE on my case... No mention of Microsoft anywhere???

And that's why we thank Sony for reaching out to mojang before the Microsoft take over.  Might never have released on vita otherwise!! Thank you Sony :)

I find it a little sad that Minecraft is the one of the best selling games on the Vita. Considering how big it was and probably still is, I'd expect this number to be higher. It's too bad the Vita didn't get more high selling unique games. I guess there's still a chance for there to still be a hit title on the device.

Keep in mind that this is 1m sold in Japan, not WW, considering there is less than 5m Vita's sold in Japan that mean one in 5 vita's there has the game purchased, that is a fantastic attach rate. Sure if the system had sold more units then that figure could be far higher if it had the 3DS's 20m units sold it could well have passed the 4m sales there... but still, as a figure just for Japan that is a great achievement.

That is true. Considering this is in one region only and the device, that is quite a good achievement.

The connection between Minecraft sales on vita and other software seems pretty unjustified here outside of trying to paint a bad picture of the device.

MC vita is the best selling version of the game on a tracked gaming device. Better than PS3, PS4, WiiU.

mc isn't as popular in Japan as it is elsewhere, and even then many ppl play it on PC or on mobile.

These sales are in fact really good taking into account vita hardware sales and hencurrent popularity level of MC in Japan.

Well, no, this isn't about comparing Minecraft to sales on other devices, but more so that it's, well... Minecraft! It's one of the big hit games to come out, so my expectations are just higher considering what the game is.

Do you mean that Vita MC sales are better than the other platforms in Japan? From the sales I looked up, the other platforms sold more than the Vita did.

I did say later those number are pretty good considering the region and platform.

Keep in mind that the Wii-U version of MC is only out digitally until June 17th later this year, and the PS3/4 versions of the game were a far better deal to buy digitally because if you bought the PS3 version digitally you were able to buy a discounted PS4 copy if you upgraded later on (think it was around €3 I paid for the PS4 version).

I'm just saying tracking of the game is fairly hard on most systems with digital sales having a massive advantage over their retail versions... or in the Wii-U case, there isn't a retail copy just yet.

Off topic point btw! if anyone happens to have either PS3/Vita version and is thinking... why is the PS4 version more costly, it's huge in comparison, the game worlds you can make are far far larger than the single map size which the PS3/Vita and X360 versions are limited to, can get super lost in it!

I thank Sony because they would have reached out to mojang to get this on the vita.

Sony are too busy making a lot of good games for their own console.  I thank them for that even more as a ps4 owner.

Well some of us own PS4 and Vita, Sony supporting both would be nice.

Ya know, a Sony machine with more Sony games. Even more ports would be nice if they don't wanna invest in creating games, 3rd parties can do that.
