Forums - Gaming Discussion - Have you ever lost and gained back your gaming mojo?

Honestly a simple question, plus a bit bored at work, (I really do work efficeiently I swear).

Basically for the last two years, I sort of played games here and there, but sort of did not care for them. Like the love of gaming sort of died. Even games I very much enjoyed, I was like meh towards aftwards (Possibly the last game I truly enjoyed was TLOU).

Recentlys I been getting it back, I actually beat JRPG instead of stopping in the middle to end randomly, and I find that I am more positive towards those titles and really the future of gaming.

I still will argue with certain topics and come off a pessimistic jaded asshat, because why the hell not. (Mainly because I think people overrate things).

I agree. I just picked up Bloodborne today from where I left off and beat 2 bosses.

I haven't really lost my gaming mojo. I kind of lose it a bit when I need to focus on classes (which I'll be done with by the end of next week), though.

In 2013 and early 2014, when I was only playing on Nintendo consoles (and never even tried something else), I started getting tired of gaming and only picked up very few titles. Pikmin 3 for example amazed me and I liked Super Mario 3D World as well, but those were exceptions. The Wii U, with a lack of appealing titles to me, has pretty much turned me off from Nintendo and gaming in general. In late 2014 however I bought myself a PS Vita, then a proper PC with Steam and after that a PS4, and sorta experienced a ''renaissance of gaming''. Tried out many new genres and found new awesome franchises (Hyperdimension Neptunia, Europa Universalis, Assassin's Creed, The Elder Scrolls, ect.) and that sorta revived my love for gaming. And here I am, having wasted ~3000€ on gaming last year. :p

Yeah, a few times. First time was with the SNES. For me, gaming was just a time waster and something to play with friends. It wasn't that important to me, even though I had a lot of fun with the NES. I just wasn't feeling the SNES except for Zelda and a few other titles. It started "collecting dust". So many games were simplistic and shallow back then.

Final Fantasy 6 brought me back--I wasn't even looking for more games but I found it in a used store while with a friend and I'd loved the original Final Fantasy, so I bought it. That resulted in me buying a PS1 for Final Fantasy 7 and enjoying the best gaming period of my life. That's when I began to think of myself as a "gamer".

Another period was when the PS2 was winding down. The new consoles had tons of problems and were expensive so I ignored console gaming for awhile. A friend of mine got me into MMOs eventually, though, so I went that route for a few years.

Yes. A break can make you thirsty, approach challenges differently, and occasionally give you more focus for the task.

1999-2006 i played very few games. The DS Lite and Wii brought me back for real

I never lost it to begin with since it was an activity that I always enjoyed in moderation ...
