Mass Effect Andromeda, God of War IV, Titanfall 2. Three big games will release Q1 2017. Two of them are likely to be March releases and the other one February release, all of them major franchises. Mass Effect has a massive fan following, God Of War has a big fan following and Titanfall sold 5 million units without a PS4 version, but Titanfall 2 will have a PS4 version. That's not to mention that Horizon if delayed to 2017 may also be a Q1 release and it will have hype.

If gamers on other platforms have enough to play on their current platforms they are unlikely to buy the NX. Not speaking of Nintendo gamers but to achieve success Nintendo needs new fans. If Nintendo can convince EA to release their games on NX at launch, it may be fine. But EA's support is necessary for any console to succeed, take a look at the past if you doubt it.

Also if Battlefield 5 and COD IW release this year, the latter has already been confirmed, Nintendo will need these games on NX at launch, although a holiday 2016 release would have been better for the same reason. COD IW will probably come to NX but Battlefield 5 will be important, as will Madden 17, FIFA 17 and NBA 2K17. These titles are system sellers for casuals which is a very important market.

With a release date as far as March there impact will be less even if they make it to launch. That's why I think March 2017 isn't the best time to release NX.

Well two of those are multiplat and the other exclusive, I don't see how an exclusive will deter people from buying the NX, it's not like the GoW series has been known to go to other systems or drafting entire legions of people from doing anything else. Also if we look at general releases by month, there is always going to be some games that come out each month so we may as well say "X month isn't good for NX because...".

That 5m for Titanfall spans across 3 different platforms, not just a single one at that.

EA isn't the end all to be all company you seem to think it is regardless of release history.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

PS4/XB1 have a handful of big releases every quarter so it doesnt really matter when NX releases, they will always have big games to go up against.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I really don't like the idea of releasing a console mid generation of the other ones unless the console also has the games which Nintendo may or may not (most likely not). It is going up against tough competition but if the reason they delayed the NX was due to a lack of a software lineup, that will hopefully mean that releasing the NX at march will make them have a more competitive lineup.

I don't really agree with the idea of launching post holiday season but hopefully, they got something up their sleeve.

The games you mention in Q1 2017 aren't really that big for Nintendo fans, the audience that will buy the NX at launch. The rest of the gaming world is either waiting to see the NX's performance and games or it's just fine with their PS4/XBone. With that said, games like CoD, BF and the EA sports games are a must on the NX, so I hope Nintendo has patched their relationship with EA, or has managed to find some kind of replacement (PES anyone?).

You know it deserves the GOTY.

That's why I said that they are important. Nintendo needs to expand there fanbase by bringing games from third-party devs to their platforms and releasing the console when the competition has smaller games coming out to interest owners of that console to the NX.

I'm pretty sure EA confirmed Titanfall 2 is releasing this Holiday, not Q1 2017.

I still need to know more about NX before I can decide if the delay was a mistake or not.

They did? Interesting, I thought Titanfall 2 would release in March due to Titanfall's release date.

Damn, I'm incredibly hyped, had a lot of fun with Titanfall.

then they should never release nx because nintendo will never be able to compete with ps4/xbox ones lineup.

They will miss the holiday sales but March 2017 will pretty much belong to nintendo and the NX, the question here is, will they be able to build enough hype for the NX before it's release date?

Where are you getting Q1 for GOW 4 and Titanfall 2 from? I haven't heard anything about a Titanfall 2 release date and I don't think GOW 4 has even been announced yet.

And even if they all do release Q1 2017... how do you know they won't be on NX?

We know Titanfall 2 is this fiscal year and judging by Titanfall's release date it may be March. God Of War will release in March if it is to release in 2017 which seems likely.

I was just saying Nintendo needs to have these EA games on NX if it is to succeed, but Wii U didn't get any holiday 2012 EA game at launch, they were late ports and we know their relationship with EA.

I think the March release date is there for Nintendo enthusiasts and core fans as they will buy what ever month it launches and the plan is the build up the hype through the year potentiayl with major showing at E3 and Gamescom to show they have the games this time round and to lead into their first holiday showdown on a positive.
