Forums - Movies & TV - How do you think Ratchet and Clank (film) will perform at the box office?

On one hand, we have a great gaming franchise that may become the most faithful video game movie, ever.  On the other hand, it may not appeal to the female audience, or even the young audience that used to play the series.  With good reviews, how do you think the film will fare?

Ratchet and Clank hits theaters on April 29th.

I'm no analyst and I don't know the film's budget. I think much of R&C's audience will just wait for Captain America the following week. I predict a modest $25M opening week with the film going downhill from there.

Domestic only?

In that case, it'll do insanely good with its budget taken in consideration.

Enough to get its budget back but it's not going to be a big hit.... Its a video game movie from a non-blockbuster franchise with probably very little marketing.

Not enough marketing. Nobody knows it exists.

Not enough marketing to what?

Sadly it won't perform very well at all. The only people that will know about ratchet and clank will be R&C fans, and not even all of them will go watch it. Only a small percentage of movie fans that havnt heard of it will go see it out of curiosity.
I'd love to be wrong because it's a great franchise in the video game business but I think it's hard for something like this to be successful in the movie business.

Add me if you want but let me know youre from this website

FYI Sony Pictures Entertainment isn't actually distributing the cinema release of the movie. They do have the rights for home video distribution though.

Comparing this to Escape from Planet Earth, (made by the same company and distributed by the same company as well, low marketing, etc.), which grossed 75 million worldwide, I think this could easily outdo that, so I'll say 100 million worldwide for the theatrical run.

You probably haven't seen the marketing because it is being advertised on children's channels.

Not sure why the female audience wouldn't be at all interested either.

Can't find the exact amount, but every website I have looked on says the budget is modest, so it is not as if it needs to make $500m to be successful.

It'll either flop or be a sleeper hit. All I know is that Ive seen no marketing for this movie whatsoever
