Forums - Gaming Discussion - Windows Phone sucks ass and you should never ever get such a device

I switched carriers a few months ago and my Note 4 wasn't working completely (lots of call errors, couldn't use keypad while in call, other network issues) so I sold it and was gonna get another but decided to go Windows Phone just to try it. Got the 640. So far it seems fine. There aren't many apps, which is fine. Some of the apps, like GroupMe, don't work nearly as well as they did on my Note 4. I don't like any of the browsers available, Dolphin is much better imho, but I am coming around on Edge.

I do like how fast it boots, charges, and it doesn't use much battery. Still undecided on whether I am going to stay WMP and maybe upgrade to a better/faster one (this one doesn't even have the W10 update yet), or go back to Android. An iPhone is not an option.

A lot of people seem to recommend Android. I don't. I have an Android phone and I don't think there's any good alternatives (for me) out there, but I really can't recommend it. It's just the smallest evil.

Also, you probably picked a bad app for flashlight. There's almost certainly a better one too.

Never had a problem with my data connection, I use it as my access point for work almost everyday. It has a flashlight I assume you just didn't know where to look. Macs are notoriously bad with any non apple hardware, unlike iphones a windows phone can just be easily opened as a storage device assuming the OS doesn't suck arse.

Hmm.. really? I transfer data from my MBP to my Android Xperia phone in all possibe ways. USB, Bluetooth, WiFi or via adb. Also the Xperia companion app for OS X (Sony Bridge for Mac) is actually quite good. It recognizes the phone immediately, it's compatible with iTunes (although I never use it so I can't really judge) and it never fries my computer (no matter the OS) only because it's installed like that piece of junk from Samsung called Kies.

Oh, and just to be clear.. No need to install extra drivers. Get a freshly installed Mac, connect your Android phone via USB an it gets recognized with or without the companion app. Mounting even the ext fs partitions in the SD cards if any (but that does require extra SW like MacFuse).

If there's anything I could say about iPhones, it's that you buy them and they work. I don't care what anyone says about them, they're the easiest phones to use, the most long term, the most durable, and most importantly: need the least maintenance. I've gotten used to my Nexus 6 (great phone) but there are still some things that I miss about my old iPhone.

Yes, Windows phones are total garbage.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I've had Windows Phone for several years, owner of a 950XL right now, and it works perfectly fine :).

To be completely honest, everyone should jump over to Project Fi and get a $199 Nexus 5x. The best bargain ever and simply fantastic service. Like seriously, get this phone and plan!! Not a better value out there.

I think you will always run into that when you switch to a new OS.  There are things you get used to and come to rely on that may not be done the same way (or at all) in a different OS. I can tell you that I would never be able to go to IOS. My wife has an iPhone while I have had Android for 6 years (currently on my second Nexus device, the 6P), so I've used IOS, and it just feels a little limited for the way I use phones.

That and I'm pretty locked into the Google ecosystem now.

I have a Lumia 535 and it works just fine, bought it over a year ago (I probably dropped it on the ground at least 50 times since then, no cracks at all). I still haven't experienced any problems with it. I always hear a lot of praise with the 640, so maybe you got a faulty device, that could explain some of the problems you've been having.

Also, did you upgrade your phone to W10? I'm asking because a lot of your complaints (Like the terrible settings, no flashlight button, etc..) were fixed with the new OS, just saying...

I'm fine with my Lumia. Don't like Android though. And I had Android for quite some time before Windows Phone.
