Never had a problem with my data connection, I use it as my access point for work almost everyday. It has a flashlight I assume you just didn't know where to look. Macs are notoriously bad with any non apple hardware, unlike iphones a windows phone can just be easily opened as a storage device assuming the OS doesn't suck arse.

Hmm.. really? I transfer data from my MBP to my Android Xperia phone in all possibe ways. USB, Bluetooth, WiFi or via adb. Also the Xperia companion app for OS X (Sony Bridge for Mac) is actually quite good. It recognizes the phone immediately, it's compatible with iTunes (although I never use it so I can't really judge) and it never fries my computer (no matter the OS) only because it's installed like that piece of junk from Samsung called Kies.

Oh, and just to be clear.. No need to install extra drivers. Get a freshly installed Mac, connect your Android phone via USB an it gets recognized with or without the companion app. Mounting even the ext fs partitions in the SD cards if any (but that does require extra SW like MacFuse).
