Forums - Website Topics - Would you contribute $ to remove VgChartz ads? (Poll up)

I'm willing to donate up to x_ per month

1$ 8 5.67%

2$ 3 2.13%

3$ 3 2.13%

5$+ 5 3.55%

10$+ 1 0.71%

20$+ (I have money to burn ok) 1 0.71%

Keep the ads, I pay nothing 85 60.28%

I particularily like the porn ads 35 24.82%

Total:141

Title is pretty straightforward. I've seen four threads now within the past month regarding ads. While I myself have never been redirected to a porn site, the mobile ads are still intrusive and honestly bothersome, so this is the solutions I pose to the rest of you VGChartz forum users:

if if a monthly server budget was posted, would you financially contribute toward this in order to see the removal of ads? Could we, the forum, crowd fund this website each month to maintain an ad free website?

Leave your comments below. If this gets enough support we might be able to get the attention of the right people.

I personally am willing to contribute 2$ this month.

I want to make this idea clear - if this idea were to make it past a conceptual stage, VgChartz would have a monthly crowdfunding campaign setting the goal for that month. If the goal is met, our money goes through and we are ad free that month. If we fall short that month and the goal is not met, any donations are returned and we resort to ad based funding for that month.

Nothing. I appreciate the fact we get it for free and we get enough people whinging about late numbers, poor moderation, game database.... List goes on.

Imagine how entitled some people would be if they paid? (Gamers? Entitled? No way. I'm clearly joking...)

Also, doesn't VGC Pro already charge?

This would be a slippery slope. I'd never pay for use to any website...

Well I expect a majority of "no's" but it's the yes's we need to pay attention to. In this case, what would be an acceptable contribution on your end?

This site has ads?! :-p

Assuming all ad's would be gone then £3 per month.

But... Adblock is free.

That not very nice, so my "no" means nothing to you? I worked so hard on it!

It definitely does! This helps give an idea to the management as to how many users are and are not annoyed by this. That being said, there has to be enough interest in the first place for a concept like this to even be possible. I guess I'm mainly trying to gauge the amount of people that are willing to take over the current revenue brought in by ads, because we may have enough people here to ultimately compensate for the rest of us.

And yea. AdBlock is free. It is not a tool we can use to circumvent ads on mobile though (afaik at least).
