When you say paid version of the site I think something like VGC Pro, which was understandably criticised for putting stuff behind a paywall that was out of reach for regular users because it was intended for companies rather than individual users. It was just... not good for regular users at all.

This isn't like that at all. It's something Trucks and I have been working on for a couple of months by ourselves - Brett isn't actually working on it and has agreed not to take any of the proceeds, which will all go towards the volunteers on the site like Trucks who will continue to add new features and make general improvements to the site which should benefit everyone.

It doesn't take anything away, it adds lots of little things for those who choose to sign up (one of which is no ads - and this is the only way Trucks and I can do something about the ads). It's something I've wanted to add for years because I've had great experiences with similar set-ups on others sites I frequent and I'm really excited that Trucks has helped me bring it to VGC. As I said earlier in the thread I'll be signing up myself, so I'll be putting my money where my mouth is - I really do think it's a cool concept.
