i never compared zelda u with skyward sword

"Skyward Sword sold 3 mil. on 100 mil installed hardware base and people expects that millions will go and buy an NX to play the next zelda"

That's directly comparing Skyward Sword with Zelda U port for NX, but you needed to TP Wii with most likely Zelda U port on NX.

Twilight princess is 10 years ago.

Also people bought the wii because of motion controls and then got twilight princess. Twilight princess alone didnt moved much consoles.

Also your right, in this point I compared them. Just to show zelda is not that popular and ost even popularity in the past years.

If a game franchise just sells 3mio on cheap and popular hardware already 95mio people got, the next installment will not move consoles.

If NX will be a success, that wont be because of zelda U.

Consider this:

- Porting takes time and ressources. Games like Twilight Princess HD tooked around 2 years to port (they started anytime in 2014). Zelda wii u port will most likely be done by the zelda team themself (they wont outsource such a project, no way). So the time they are using now on Zelda port, they could put directly into the next zelda. Result: Zelda Wii U on NX will delay the next zelda for around 1 year (because they will "waste" their time with an port)

Porting from PowerPC to X86: http://www.destructoid.com/naughty-dog-porting-the-last-of-us-to-ps4-was-hell-275048.phtml

If Nintendo has decided to bring the new Zelda game also to NX console, that decision won't have happened only a few months ago but probably years ago. So it wouldn't be a port from PowerPC to X86, it would be a multiplatform development for PowerPC + x86, which takes a lot less time than a port or remaster as an afterthought (the sooner planned the better).

Multiplatform development ain't anything unusual, it was done for almost any third-party game in the last decade (PS3 and/or 360 + PC). For many of the time consuming assets of the game (3D models, textures, level design, story, music, sound effects, voices, localisation...) the target platform (x86, PPC or both) is quite irrelevant, they work on both.

So, no: Bringing a game to two or more platforms instead of one platform doesn't automatically delay the release of the game for 1 - 2 years, especially if the project and its workflows are planned alright.

They can reuse the zelda wii u engine or a modified version of it to cut down on development time for the next zelda. we could see the next 3d zelda (after zelda wii u) in 2019 if they are already brainstorming right now.

Yes, I want it on NX because it will probably be the superior version, and that way I can sell my Wii U in order to buy the new console too.

sure you want to sell the wii u late 2016?

Mario Kart 9/NX will probl launch summer 2017/8. Splatoon 2 maybe 2018/9. New Star Fox? Could take looong. If smash not gonna ported that also will take very long.

NX might have 2-3 killer games at launch and maybe 1-2 following the next year...

BTW: if NX is BC you can play zelda anyway and all wii u games for sure^^

Well, my plan is to sell just the console and then wait to see if the NX supports Wii U games, if it does, I'll keep my games (And buy some I don't have yet, like XCX and Pikmin 3), and if doesn't... I'll just sell everything and wait for the new ones anyways, I think Steam can keep me busy while I wait for the big games lol. I could always just keep everything and still buy the NX, but everything is so expensive here T___T

Doesn't matter what Wii U customers want as they're going to get the game what matters is that you as a Wii U owner aren't the only potential customer. Wii U is their lowest selling console and will finish up at 15-17m or so, NX taking with a version of the next Zelda is not only business decision but many consumers who aren't sure of the Wii U or won't get one at this stage will be more inclined to buy a NX over a Wii U as the former will be clearly out of gas once Zelda U has come and gone while the latter will only be starting it's gen.

It needs to happen and it needs to be a launch game. Not window. Launch. This will be the best thing to happen for NX and Nintendo. They need to start strong and a enhanced Zelda U on NX would do it.

Wii U support and games developement will drop off a cliff... like always happends with nintendo consoles, once a new one launches.

Unless you really love splatoon & smash, theres not that much a draw back too it, if your the type that sells the old console to help fund the new.

IMO there are many games on Wii U that I will pick and play even in years.

Like Mario Kart 8 and Smash. Like Splatoon.

Like the Zelda remasters (definitive version of 2 zelda games on that system).

Im even playing Black Ops 2 locally with friends on that system pretty often. Just because New CODs on ps4 dont support 4 player local and on wiiu in 2 player local everybody got his own screen.

That thing is the perfect local multiplayer machine. So far I really dont see even I reason why I should trade this for an NX with 2-3 games in the first year I might be interested in and one of those games will be on the wii u as well.

In holiday 2016 i will probl play Final Fantasy 15, Zelda Wii U, Kingdom Come Deliverance, The Last Guardian, Mass Effect Andromeda, Horizon Zero Dawn...

So i wont even have time to play the NX lineup and i highly doubt the NX lineup could compete with that list.

if the NX is on Ps4 power level that wont make sense. Several PS4 releases already prooved that you need new next gen engines to push those consoles to the limits.

When was TP doesnt matter, point is same.

Most people buyed Wii because of Motion Controls, but some people buyed Wii because TP. I know for reports that on Wii launch Wii TP was sold everywhere.

Skyward Sword is just one and pretty bad example, because arrived on dead platform and needed addon or different controller to be played. Also Skyward Sword sold 4m not 3m.

If NX will be success part of that success will definitely be because of great launch with great launch lineup including Zelda U, same like part of credit of great launch for Wii has TP.

It absolutely boggles my mind how much people will sit around and argue and discuss RUMORS. Can we at least WAIT and find out what Nintendo's plan actually is BEFORE we complain about it?
