I don't mean this in a racist way, but I wonder if this is a cultural difference. I've been noticing a lot lately how many conversations in Japanese games go like:
"In a minute, the light will turn green. In other words, the colour of the light will change to green."
"Wait, you mean the colour of the light won't stay the same? And soon it will be green?"
"Exactly. You could say that it will undergo a transformation of colour. And after that transformation, it will be green."
Metal Gear Solid and Xenoblade Chronicles X come to mind as prime examples, using far too many words to describe the obvious.
To those better informed on the subject than me, is this a cultural thing, or is it just a matter of the writer's style?
