Can you even read? Or are you all serious about defending games like rapelay which is scum and gives gaming a bad name, why would anybody make or even play something like that. It's not like they're going to ban boobs, geez.
Stay in school you guys.

Considering that japan has far less rapes compared to other countries, this is baseless and whatever is happening in anime, manga and games stays in the fictional world. Here's some interesting info.

I could only find from rape statistics for 2003 to 2010 for Japan and United States but it will work to prove my point.

Rate per 100,000 population

United States

'03        '04       '05        '06        '07      '08      '09       '10

32.2     32.3      31.8     31.5     30.6    29.8    29.0     27.3

Japan

'03    '04    '05    '06     '07     '08     '09    '10

2.0    1.7    1.6    1.5    1.4     1.3     1.1     1.0

As you can see, Japan is very well behaved and their anime, manga and hentai doesn't influence the real world.

It's not too much of stretch for "violence against women" to encompass any game, manga or anime with sexual content involving female characters regardless if they are human or not. Also, this is outside of CEDAW's area of interest because anime, games, eroge, hentai and manga are all fictional works of art. If the dipiction of fantasy rape in anime, games and hentai actually increased violence against women then this would be entirely different situation and this would be an actual women's issue.

What someone masturbates to is their business to be honest.

It's PC, so everything goes there. PC censorship should be an INTERPOL crime...

If there was a game about little caucasian children being blown up with grenades at the top of the statue of liberty you wouldn't be so chill about it. It wouldn't be just fiction or pointless. We're talking about a game about rape, where's the fun in that, what's so great about raping? Just saying.

Its not about one game specifically.Personally, as Machina have said, I find those games tasteless and I really cant see the point of them being made, but the developers have their right to express their art, even if it extremely strange. And another problem with this is that its extremely vague. What is "sexual violance against women"?It can be as bad as rape(as the game given as an example) or could be simply "objectification" or even like punching(imagine a fighting game that has not much sexual implications) in intimate areas.

But the most critical part for me is that this is fiction. Its charachters from video games. There are actual woman in actual countries that suffers abuses and needs measures.Instead, they come after video games.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Is this for real...? Doesn't the UN have more pressing issues to deal with than this...? Imagine people in the UN saying thinds like "animes" and "manga". Sounds so weird...

UN Challenging Japan’s Treatment of Women, Suggests Ban of Erotic Japanese Games

The UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), will be examining (SOURCE, our mobile URLs show up the same as regular text – working on a fix) Japan’s record on women’s rights. The reason this has gotten onto our radar is that one of the possible talking points is the “banning of the sale of video games or cartoons involving sexual violence against women.” The wording of the phrase could imply that they’ll be discussing banning eroge games likeRapelay (or other games of that nature), but with no clear guidelines as to what “sexual violence” entails, it feels like the definition can be used to include games that aren’t even eroge. The discussion will be broadcasted live on the Treaty Body Webcast site.

It is hypocritical. How a bout the porno like barely legal stuff. Or sex vids in general. Its a western thing. And when another country uses animations its all oooooh. Fuck the west man. We always point at people. Leave other cultures alone man

Oh for sake...

sounds like they want even works of fantasy/fiction cartoons to have real life rights.
This is what you call oppression of creativity.

How about they deal with actual fucking oppression in the ME/elsewhere?

Gotta get to the root of the problem.

Weird Japanese entertainment. Then we will have peace in the ME.
