According to you. But not everyone is impressed by cars that you can walk through.

Okay don't even start on only the flaws. It isn't an opinion that Xenoblade is more usually impressive than Tropical Freeze. Some might prefer the artstyle in Tropical Freeze over Xenoblade, but it isn't more visually impressive. In any way.

What if someone thinks 2D platformers are better games than JRPGs? It boils down to tastes, really.

Yep.

I mean, they used a modified version of Unreal Engine 2.5... that's sad.

Don't start getting specific.

This is what really matters:

While the artstyle is certainly good, those visuals are still outdated. Especially if you pick a common map like this an analyze it:

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

people just didnt want another DK game so soon, thats what it came down to

even though its a great game, its just not something people wanted

I agree.  Tropical Freeze seems more like a smaller project a studio would do in-between larger ones.  Sometimes I think that Retro decided to do the game because the guys in-charge couldn't come to a consensus in time on what they wanted to do next after DKCR.

First time I hear this and it makes sense to me.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Retro was forced into Tropical Freeze by Nintendo's headquarters while the EAD team that made Splatoon made it from the scratch with nobody telling them anything...

I dont see how you can compare multiplayer game with very wide appealing that basically is very similar to Mario Kart and Smash Bros. with 2D platform game.

That's intellectually dishonest. I mean, I get that you say that Splatoon is a bigger success than DKC:TF, but your criterion to put XCX over DKC:TF is pathetic. Additionally, it's not like Retro had a stellar track record of moving hardware with their games before they made DKC:TF.

The lesson to be learned is that Nintendo shouldn't make a piece of trash like the Wii U, because ultimately pretty much all of their games suffered because of it. Based on Retro's whole body of work, there's no good reason to believe that a different project would have led to a significantly different outcome (selling below expectations, failing to move hardware on a notable scale).

maybe XCX sold less but it enticed many people to buy a Wii U for it which was more important for Nintendo hence why Japan and Europe got bundles for it. DK TF and Kirby are the type of cash grabs by Nintendo imho

Well... maybe it's because Splatoon was a much better game...

It's not about preference of genre. It's about how much the game can handle graphically and etc.

DK:TF is still a great game, but Splatoon felt fresher...
