Sounds very interesting. Like Nintendo is growing up! Anime! Famous IP Smartphone games! Can't wait. Almost a billion dollar profit? Kimishima must be insane or a genius.
English is not my main laguase, so please can someone explain what he means by saying this:
"The plan is to bring profits to 100 billion yen ($855 million) in “several years”. [Note: that would be 4x of last year's profit."
I don't understand if he wants to gain 855 million a lot of years or if to reach that numbers Nintendo would need a lot of years.
What's funny is I have been saying this for awhile that a Nintendo theme park would kill here in the US and could rival Disneyland in appeal. With Mario as the Mickey and all the worlds they can build inside Hyrule Area, Mushroom Kingdom Area, planet of Pikmin Area, Lylat system area, and Metroid area with theme rides in each area.
It's a gold mine!!!

A billion dollar profit seem like a lot compared to the last few years but that is roughly what they were making from 1990-2005 so it's not that crazy.

-dedicated hardware/software
-Amiibo figurines/cards
-mobile games/apps
-theme park attractions
-films/series/anime
-health/education products
-increased merchandising
It's not really that hard to imagine them returning to those level of profits going forward.

Add in a unified platform(or did your 1st point cover that and I misread it? ) so no console/handheld development cycle splits would potentially mean more games/less development time along with winning back third party developers since that just prints them like $10 a sale and I'd be pretty sure they could get 200k-500k sales on big multiplats at a minimum with the installbase they are expecting so hopefully that + easy development/porting would entice third party developers back.
