Doesn't really matter, in the end it's box office run has been nothing short of unbelievable and has restored Star Wars to being the no.1 franchise in Hollywood with a thunderous slam dunk.

Internationally it's a bit harder for this film to work seeing as how it's the seventh Star Wars movie and you kinda need to have a little investment in previous films for this to work. When the last one came out, that was 11+ years ago and economies like China and the global market were in a very, very different place.

It really is staggering how many countries had massive numbers for Avatar. Even with Star Wars easily surpassing it in the US it will likely be 400-500 million short worldwide.

January will be interesting to see its legs given how Avatar was at 430 million of its 750 million gross in US after 24 days. Star Wars for reference is at 812 million after 24 days.

I never finished a Star Wars Movie. I was always bored after 20 minutes. It no doubt has less international appeal compared with avatar. I never met a oerson with star wars figurines or other thimgs like pillows etc. I think its not quite as big worldwide compared to the popularity in the USA

Avatar didn't beat Avatar's record, they had a 3D release to get some extra coin to make is 2.788 billion.
