While it may not be the most popular Pokemon with hardcore fans, it is the series's mascot that even folks who don't know much about the series will know. Same some what goes for Ash from the anime with Pikachu as his side kick, so why not display him often?

Yes everybody knows him, but not everybody actually cares about him. I mean honestly there isn't anything special or great about him compared to other Pokemon. He's just the mascot, nothing more.

And hey, it's not cool to hate on Dunsparce! xP

At this point I suspect Pikachu ranks behind perhaps only Mario and Link in recognizability in the mainstream world among Nintendo's characters. Can't say that about any other Pokemon.

*edit* Donkey Kong may actually belong on that list, not sure... Everyone has heard of donkey kong dating back to the golden age of the arcade.

 

I'm not denying he's famous, cause well, he clearly is. I'd say probably even moreso than Mario and Link cause who still has a TV show running? :L

I can't of course, but Nintendo could if they wanted, afterall they're the ones who made Pikachu the mascot in the first place. Take a cutesy wittle Pokemon, shove it down our throats, and there you go, new mascot. They wont though since they have no need to.

You can't honestly believe that Link is more recognisable than Pikachu? Seriously, you just can't believe that.

There's nothing wrong with Pikachu, he's not terrible, but he wouldn't make my top 150 or even 200 Pokemon.

It's definitely no Quagsire.

I wouldn't call Pikachu my favorite Pokemon ever, but it's just so damn cute I can't resist it. I once saw a youtube video of someone getting a Pikachu bed, and, not gonna lie, I want it.

Yeah... Pikachu's got me by the balls.

Agreed, though they really need to make murdering Team Rocket their priority so the anime becomes 70% less repetitive.

But is that due to something about Pikachu itself, or just because he's the mascot? I bet if it wasn't Pikachu it'd be a different Pokemon. Like all Pokemon he's just as interchangeable.

But how do they know about it? Is it because people are always talking about how great and awesome Pikachu is? Nah, it's cause Nintendo wont shut up about him. I'm not saying they shouldn't be displayed, although in my perfect world they wouldn't be because they would finally stop being cheap and lazy with the anime.

Pikachu is the mascot of Pokemon, hate him or love him. He is here to stay!
Tho i'd much prefer if it's a girl tho, i think the name Pikachu sound like a girl name, and he does voiced by a girl :3.

I'm out of the age range that grew up with Pokemon. I know the ones that get shoved down our throats, that's about it.
