Forums - Gaming Discussion - (Rumour) Rise of the Tomb Raider sells less than 200k in November (U.S.)

We're sorry this Tomb has not been Raided.

*obligatory joke* Couldn't resist. This is going to tank on PS4, there is no reason PS4 fans are going to save a game one year later, labelled as an Xbox exclusive  duing the overcrowded 2016 PS4 lineup that includes titles such as Uncharted and Horizon. This might be thedeath of a franchise.

I hope Scalebound doesn't suffer the same terrible fate, but at least that game wouldn't exist without Microsoft.

Platinum doesn't have the greatest track record when it comes to sales, regardless of the quality.

When it releases on PS4 it shouldn't be titled Definite Edition or GOTY Edition but Apology Edition.

The flop is delicious.

Maybe passion will make the game profitable?

Haha you just made my day. Also i though 200k for just Xbox One wich would have been bad. But 200k Xbox One and 360 COMBINED!? Whoah holy crap that's bad.

There was that one guy who said TR would not be affected by FO4 sales....

As for TR, it was obvious... I don't see the PS4/PC versions being able to rescue the mess they have created for themselves. I'll bite when it's sub £20 on ps4... so probably dec 16 price cut time

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

MS killed Tomb Raider

The launch window was a huge factor with so many big titles released this holiday. Fallout 4 especially affected it big time in my opinion. I know for sure now that the reason Sony delayed Uncharted 4 was to avoid possible low sales and maximize on the spring 2016 smaller line up. Of course they're gonna say it was to polish the game but I believe the move was very strategic.

Uncharted 3 was released in the same month as Call of Duty: MW3, Assasins Creed: Revelations and Skyrim back in 2011, and it did great.

If the case was to avoid low sales they just needed to get the game a week earlier and it would have sold gazillions, so I think that the "polish excuse" is most likely

The game deserves much better sales. People who played the game mostly say it is a very, very good game, even better than TR2013 but as we know since last gen, it doesn't need good games to achieve high sales and a good game doesn't mean high sales.
