Forums - Nintendo Discussion - News: Wii U Named as "The Top Selling Item on Target.com" In Black Friday Sales

Any good news for Nintendo is good news to me.

This doesn't mean anything when:

1. The main PS4 & XB1 bundles had limited stock online @ Target.com and therefore were sold out early whilst Wii U was allocated higher stock level
2. Target accounts for less than 15% of the total market for Video Game sales in the U.S.
3. Target.com accounts for less than 5% of all sales from Target.com and Target Retail.

what do you want to bet that the 5% is way way higher on black friday when people don't want to go into the overcrowded stores and while they don't charge anything for shipping on anything.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Still doesn't mean anything. If point one was not there and the retailer was Gamestop, Walmart and Amazon then it would be interesting data to read. As this is Target.com, who represent a tiny portion of the market, the data about Wii U is not likely to be indicative of trends across all retail stores. Especially when point one is taken into consideration.

What should be taken away from this press release is that consumer gaming products such as the Wii U still continue to be popular items during sales events like Black Friday and the $249 bundle is proving popular. What should not be taken away from this press release is that the Wii U will significantly increase total sales in the U.S. during the month of November.

Is that what you think my post is? You clearly don't have any experience with the retail market then.

I do, unfortunately, have far too much experience with forum posters though. If your intent was to inform instead of merely diminish, you came up far short.

cool news

Good for Nintendo and Wii U fans. Any downplayers please Let Nintendo fans enjoy a bit of positive news for a change, your console of choice is still winning and nobody is predicting a Wii U renaissance. It's just nice to see the console has some kind of demand still.

Look at the source MyNintendoNews.com used then look at my username.

All I ever do is inform. Based on previous discussions on this site and others it seems some people were reading too much into the data point and so in this thread I wanted to provide some additional information to give the data some context.
