Forums - Website Topics - More PC gamers as mods/staff

I banned myself to lurker status for 3 years and I mostly play PC only...coincidence?

Around the Network

If a person earns their position to become a mod they'll become one. We're not making purposeful equal amounts of mods for each fan faction to suit the needs of some weird affirmative action. Plus this site is made FOR console sales, PCs don't often come into the equation for that reason. Plus there are PC mods, Tachi, me, Miguel, Blue, and a few others use PC regularly. Right now Im playing through Undertale

Plus I'm primarily a handheld gamer and yet theres like maybe 1 other mod (if that) that primarily handheld games. Am I pissy about it? No. It's a non issue just like this threads topic

Don't make this sound like a long war of discrimination against PC fans.

Look, usually most flaming is moderated, so you can't say console-lovers have protection.

Its not a long war. In fact before 2013 it was never really a problem. Its just now atm pc doesnt have as much protection against such sly jabs as console users has at the moment. And console fans uses them loop holes to troll and bypass bans. Like really you can call me a PC elitist and the is nothing in the rules stating you can be banned for doing such when really it should fall under the same thing as calling someone a fanboy.

You can troll pc with comments like "You cant use a tv or joypad" "Every game on pc is broken" etc and nothing will happen to you. And i dont mean just once you can go into every thread that has "PC" in the title and say such stuff and nothing will happen to you.

Its when the mods start taking care of stuff like that then ill have faith that vgc is fair for a pc users.

You must not see that many console discussions then. When it comes to consoles they can easily be called trash. Cough Starfox WiiU version Cough    Just realize that mods do their best to stop all types of flaming. One of the only reasons why PC insults may not be moderated is because PC is so diverse to the point that one's criticism will not be towards all PC users. Consoles are different though. You can't customize them in any shape or form you want.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

I think I see a pattern here. Maybe... :P

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Clearly a person needs to earn the statues. But if your trying to tell me that VGC has not giving out mod possitions before to fill a gap im sorry to say but your wrong. Maybe thats cos your not here long enough and dont know what it was like. I remember this site had a huge amount of Sony fans, Then it got a bunch of nintendo fans, then some more Xbox fans, and then some more Sony fans cos they felt left out only to then higher more Nintendo fans again.

Yes you play on pc. Yes im sure if you noticed some of the trolling comments you might do something about them.

But the fact is "Some" console gamers get away with way way too much trolling against pc users. And like i said in my other post, saying things such as "PC cant use tv's or joypads" "every pc game is broke" etc should be classed as trolling and dealt with in such a way. Also calling a pc user an elitiest should also be dealt with the same as calling someone a fanboy and imo should also be added to the rules.

When users here start getting banned/warned for doing such things, then like i said ill have faith in the mods thats already here. Till then i think the problem wont be fixed till we get pc mods thats willing to watch out for such things and do whats right.

(BTW none of what im saying means im trying to say the mods that we have are bad or that, just that we need a mod thats maybe more willing to read most of the pc type threads).

Key word is "before", doesn't work that way anymore. We aren't filling gaps anymore, if we ever were, but instead getting people who can moderate fairly.

If you feel like a post is a direct attack on PC gaming, report it like everyone else. Contact a head mod if you feel so inclined. Facts being wrong is not a banning/warning offense though. It'd be ridiculous to ban people for it too as some people may not be as well versed in one gaming platform over another and is going on what they believe to be correct. If you have a problem with the rules, contact Truck or a head mod.

It's not our problem if you have no faith in our judgement though, it isn't your call. Work your way up as a user and become a mod yourself. The problem is

1. This website was not created to entice PC gamers to join. The point of this site is console sales, not PC sales.

2. Because of the first reason, not many PC gamers are here.

3. There's no reason to have PC bias mods around, it doesn't help literally anything. Because as previously mentioned, banning based off of incorrect facts is ridiculous.

Last time i reported a user for trolling i had a mod enter the thread and say it was pretty much ok, Only to then go on and comment on what im sure was my grammar. Something that imo could of been left out of the discussion, and then i ended up getting banned for "Backseat modding" .

Like you said i wouldnt see it as a problem if it was clearly a person who didnt know any better. But when its the same users saying the same stuff in pretty much every possitive pc thread you start to see a pattern.

I also dont think id have the time to be a mod myself (Back a year or more ago it wouldnt be a problem) , but now with kids and stuff the just not enough time lol xD.

Also i think the forum on this site has outgrew the sales a long time ago, and clearly with pc growing and this site focusing more on the games lately i can see how pc users would come here (Even if atm they might not stick around long) .

Also its not about the mods making a bad judgment, and more so that they might not see or notice it to even make a judgment on it.

If you have an issue with how that problem was handled, talk to a head mod. But 1 bad moderation doesn't equate to needing more PC mods but rather better training, which is hard to do as mods come in and out the door so often.

If it is another user causing you trouble, we can keep an eye on them. However, that doesn't mean we can do anything about it as long as they aren't violating the rules. We'd love to ban assholes if we could XD but we can't because being an asshole isn't enough to get a person banned (sadly ;~;)

Sales are coming back and will become a larger focus again with Machina taking over sales data. And yeah, we don't read every thread because tons of threads are made every day. The best thing to do is report and give an explanation as to why you reported that user and we may be able to moderate them. However sending a report is never a guarantee for anything.

I guess your right, and i know about thr rule thing and thats why i hope trucks adds two simple rules to the list "Calling a person a PC elitist will be treated the same as calling a user a fanboy" and "If a user is constently trolling by repeating the same flame bait stuff, and is knowing for making touble with a one fanbase or another will be warned and if they continue to do such things will be banned".

I think its two simple rules that would make the world of difference already imo.

But i can already tell your a good mod who explains yourself very well. And the is other good mods on this site too (My fav will always be axum xD).

So i really do hope that you or the other mods dont see this thread as me trying to run down what you and the other mods do. As honestly that is not the point. Its like you said the is so many threads made here that it is hard to see everything. I thought maybe if the was more pc users that would kinda fix the problem on the pc side since pc users would be in the pc threads more. But like you said a report can do just as good when the right mod sees it, and i shouldnt base judgment on what one mod did and be worried about reporting again in the future.

If it makes you feel better I can check up on PC threads more often However I don't go into PC vs Console threads since those are bans just waiting to happen v.v XD I'd recommend avoiding those kinds of threads, nothing good can come out of them.

I don't see the point of having a pc mod because most likely they would play on a game console or two. I've seen plenty of people debate about PCs and when/if they step over the line by resorting to personal attacks, they are moderated for it. That's no different than with any of the big 3.

You totally should visit them though =P, this is something mods should be heavily encouraged to watch and learn from. I mean if you actually watch each user over a short peroid of time you actually begin to pick up their quirks and habits, how they act towards others and so on. You basically become a more knowledgable mod that can hand out the correct judgements when and where based on how the indivuduals acted rather than ignoring everything until you ehar a loud noise, turn you ehad and smack the hammer down while going back to reading the sunday funnies =P. (seriously that's actually what it looks like on here from time to time, I've been on here a lot less than Zero but I do know you guys are humans capable of learning and generally getting better at what you do).

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

Oh don't worry, we end up having to see them anyway. The amount of reports you get from them ends up causing you to read most of threads like that anyway XD I've learned the behavior of quite a few of you guys. You in particular, I am well versed in it's always interesting watching how users interact with one another
