Forums - Nintendo Discussion - My NX concept

Let me talk aboult how i think NX could be. Is more about the concept than power.

So much have been argued about to keep the screen or not on the controller. BC is something to think, and also the price.

The concept of off-tv play is one of the best thinks about wii U gamepad. Also, the BC is a tendency in Ninty consoles, and wii U have some great games that many gamers missed because they didnt had a Wii U.

We also know that the gamepad is one of the most expensive parts of wii U, and that lead wii U to a not competitive price, considering its power and price of XBO and PS4 and their bundles and tendencies of price dropping. So, selling a home console with competitive power and a controller with a screen would be too expensive for Ninty goals.

I think is time to abandon the motion controller concept of wii where you stand up to play tenis. But keep the concept of motion controllers like they act in splatton. Here you only move your wrists. Also, i liked that on wii we didnt need to play with the hands next to each other, but i didnt like the wire among the wiimote and nunchuck. Splatoon showed how well gyro motion controllers still could be used. 2 gyros, one for each hand would increase further the possibilities.

So here is my concept:

A console(1), all normal about it. But the difference is on the controller(2) based on Wii U pro-controller(i would only lower the shoulders buttons a little). It is separable in 2 parts(3), and each part has it own gyro. Also, you can insert your phone/tablet in the middle of the controller(4) for off-tv play and for wii U BC. Also, novel possibilities are possible, you can fit the screen in a vertical orientetion(5) for new gimmicks and DS/3DS BC. Probably, they could think in a better format of the controller to a more natural insertation of the mobile screen.

So, they could garantee a not very expensive console due not adding expensive acessory, new gameplay possibilities and Wii U and possibly 3DS BC.

Also, if you let me go a step further, but in a even bolder concept: The handheld NX would be a software for mobile devices! Something like an app that is a central with an emulator, a store for buying the games, miiverse, etc, all the handheld device envoirement. So, you can buy only the software and the controller, and you turn your mobile in a NX handheld(something that is not as expensive as a own hardware). So only configs 4 and 5 are possible. But is still possible for standart 1 screen gaming, also, simulating the 2 screens gaming(5), including 3DS and DS  BC, and new game ideas where turning the screen is a gameplay mechanic(nintendo like these gimmicks). You can spread your handheld console for the entire mobile market by just 50$ (a controller price), instead a 200$.

So, what do you think? Am I crazy?

What are you smoking let me get some.

Not gonna happen.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

It'd be interesting, but that wouldn't happen beause that means Nintendo would have to sign deals with Apple, Samsung, etc. to get it compatible with their phones

I don't want to be mean, because you put a lot into this theory, but that's not happening.

So essentially a gamepad with a telescopic arm in the middle to fit in a display (tablet) horizontally or vertically depending on the game?

Something like this bluetooth controller?

NX on apple OS would be amazing, someone make it happen.

i didnt know that, seems great!

yeah, pretty much.

but also fully retractable, to work like a conventional controller too, for playing on the tv.

In theory I think its a pretty good idea and I can definitely see the benefits, Your handheld NX will be based on your own smart device, which I think its only going to increase in viability over a dedicated handheld. And your console can function like a WiiU without the added cost of the tablet and with better specs (eg multi touch).

But I am not sure this is a route Nintendo is going to take. Its a pretty risky move that makes the device seem more in line with something like Ouya: the majority of your gaming community is probably not going to care. But with the benefit of playing mobile software you can play Nintendo software so there is that.

At a decent enough price (possible) it could make the NX a viable platform for Nintendo fans and then as a 2ndary console for everyone else.

But this would mean that the NX OS would need to be compatible with Android and iOS if its going to include games that run on the smartphone and the console, when used independent of one another.

yeah, pretty risky. Also, the handheld part is very bold, i realise is too much for nintendo(especially the iOS and android simbiosis). Is just my crazy idea, lol.

But id like the home console ideia. The handheld could be a conventional handheld, and the OS the same as the home. so, not going to raise the handheld spreadness, but seems that there not too much options.
