Forums - Gaming Discussion - Amazon US October monthly bestsellers and general Amazon based discussion

In October 2007, 1 month after Halo 3 came out, MS introduced a 280$ 360 model. Cause it was a more basic one, it was not really a price cut (one had already happened in August). Still, what you had was: one price cut 1 month before Halo 3 and 1 cheaper model 1 month after.
Unless they are under so much pressure after last year's deals to not keep losing money, there's no way they are going to keep the current price. It'll probably only happen in November so that they can benefit a bit from Halo launch at current price

I am curious how October numbers will stack up against last year. XB1 will obviously be up, had low numbers in 2014, around 168k I think. PS4 did 300k.. Price should help it be up YOY but the fact that the 2/3 November bundles are gathering a lot of pre orders could hurt the October-boost. There is clearly a lot more interest in them than the NDC bundle.

I hope you are aware of the fact that Amazon didn't correctly predict the winner on december 2013.

I can't remember but were preorders involved? You have to take those into consideration when assessing the accuracy of Amazon. For instance, this months numbers won't include the Star Wars Bundle or the Black Ops Bundle, but there are still the TLOUR Bundle, Destiny Bundle and Nathan Drake Bundle which have been consistantly above the Halo bundle.

The 3DS won december 2013 NPD

The beta is almost over and the two Star Wars bundle are dropping quickly

So you're drawing a direct correlation between the beta stopping and the bundles falling? The beta would have helped a little but not a huge ammount. It's mainly the price drop that created the surge in sales, unless you'd like to explain how the Star Wars beta boosted all the other PS4 bundles too?

The PS5 Exists.

Alobg with literally every other PS4 SKU, which suggest that it's due to the pricecut effect slowing down abit, and has literally nothing to do with the Battlefront beta...

How could you play the Battlefront beta without a PS4 anyway? (Unless you mean people who have an XBO or gaming PC are buying a PS4 to play a multiplat.)

Will this be the last thread if amazon fails to correctly predict the winner? I mean who wants to listen to a false prophet.

Technically Amazon won't be wrong though. During the month of October PS4 will probably sell more than Xb one, as in the number of transactions that take place in October. However lots of Xb one's pre-sold during August and September when Halo 5 was on pre-order. And when you bring those pre-orders into October it probably gives Xb one the win. Amazon counts pre-orders as sales during the month the pre-order transaction is made. NPD of course only counts sales when a console is delivered to the customer. Hence in some months when pre-orders are a factor Amazon might not show the highest selling console as having the highest selling sku on the chart.

Besides, you can blame ioi for the existence of these threads. With the lack of regular, quality sales data coming from this website the vacuum has to be filled somehow, and Amazon seems to be the best predictor of relative PS4/Xb one sales in the USA.

Don't you throw your logic at me! It's all about the chartz and absolute ranking positions.

Halo rising a little bit but still rising. Next week we will have a better picture of how things will stabilize.
