Halo: MCC had a full remake of Halo 2 along with remasters of all the other main Halo games... Halo: MCC had all the multiplayer stuff from all the Halo games... The Uncharted Collection ditched all the online multiplayer... It's such a lazy effort.

Gears of War Remaster gets a big graphical overhaul (bigger than any of Sony's remasters) and it has lot's of new online multiplayer content that the original Gears of War on the XBOX360 never had. And according to wiki: "Ultimate Edition will feature five unreleased chapters of the campaign of the original game and players who purchased the Ultimate Edition can participate in the multiplayer beta of Gears of War 4, which is set to be released in 2016."[100]

Wind Waker HD was built form scratch (they lost the original build): the lighting, textures, shadows, etc. are all reworked and improved considerably. The resolution gets a big upgrade from 480p to 1080p, much bigger than the one from GoW 3 R or the Uncharted Collection. The controls are improved considerably thanks to the gamepad. The entire soundtrack is orchestrated... They added the swift sail to make sailing much less tedious. They added miiverse integration which made the world feel more alive. They improved upon the final triforce fetch quest to make it a lot less tedious.

Good enough for you? What Sony did is just a resolution and framerate upgrade.

Firstly, the uncharted series in known for its single player not its multiplayer. That's not the same thing with Halo. Secondly, you do get beta access to the U4 multiplayer if you own the uncharted collection.

Second, GOW doesn't even have a multiplayer mode. So all the would do is up the rez and framwrate. Lastly, TLoU besides being a feature perfect remaster; also has new modes built into the game.

and most importantly, even Sony has said whobthese remasters are made for. For people that never played the originals. And what does it tell you when TLoU on PS4 has amassed over 2M sales? I strongly doubt those are all people double dipping for the exact same game.

I love extra credits and have been following them for a few years now, they always have something insightful to share

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

1/ a big resounding NO, and the framerate stays at 30fps for the Single player. The most disappointing exclusive remaster we had until now.

2/ From gamecube to Wii U (2 generations of consoles) and not even a stable 30fps on Wii U when most remastered games from PS3 / X360 to PS4 / XB1 get their framerate doubled? Gow3 and UC collection get their framerate doubled for instance, assets considerably improved for UC collection, much more than for Wind Waker HD.

When you're winning you can get away with that. That said, they have a fairly good excuse on most of the games they've done this for, honestly. Almost every PS3 remaster in the first couple years of the remaster era were games that people missed out on and couldn't easily play because of the transition to HDTVs(/laziness). Hell, I can accept that argument for Uncharted since a good third of the PS4's audience, all of whom WILL buy UC4, not only didn't play the first three but heavily requested the chance to. And if 1 is honestly up to par with the other two in terms of gameplay now, it's worth a look for that alone, because that's a change VERY comparable to modernizing Gears or Zelda (specifically MM3D).

Now, I'm not a fan with SOME of the HD remaster era's output, specifically TLoUR, because why milk a cow that's already dry, and then milk it more by making paid DLC after the season pass ended. The handling of that was disgusting to me, but otherwise most of the first party HD collections are justified, even if they're sometimes quick cash grabs.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

That Sony's first party line up so far is incredibly underwhelming.

WW didn't have multiplayer either yet they improved upon the original considerably.

What new modes does TLOU R have? None that I heard of.

The majority of games in the top 20 on metacritic (PS4/XBONE) are remasters/cross-gen games. 2 years into their lifetime...

Do we really need pointless remasters like GoW 3 and Uncharted Collection? MS and Ninty are handling remasters mostly fine, but some other companies... Halo: MCC was good on paper, but the online should've been better.

dafuq? How is Sony handling remasters any worse than MS or Nintendo?  Now you're just splitting hairs.

Nintendo only remastered one game this gen.

And I already explained it thoroughly in this thread.

The part about Wind Waker HD being rebuilt from scratch because they lost the original build is utter bull.

And nope, the soundtrack wasn't orchestrated. It simply uses higher quality instrument samples than the original game.

So... yeah.

Yeah, no.

They just said it sold well, so that's why it was needed. None of the games Sony remastered needed one from an entertainment perspective.
