Forums - Microsoft Discussion - In its only two shows of the year, MS didn't make any significant new game announcements?

They should reveal all their projects for 2017 and 2018 to make the list looks bigger than it is and hide the fact that they don´t have nothing big for the next months.... oh wait they have a ton of big stuff for the next months and they have announced new games recently....

You must be talking about some other company, because this thread makes really no sense.

Well point is as usual there are way more games enjoyable, likeable and entertaining for me coming to my XBO this year and in the foreseeable future than on PS and I have yet to finish the dozens of games I bought for XB360 and XBO so far and with GwG that list is ever increasing permanently... I'll retire and I'll still have games I want to play on my backlog so what exactly is the point here???

Think about it.

There were none at Gamescom. At E3 the only one that might qualify for that is Recore, and that still remains to be seen, who knows what it is and how it turns out. Right now it's a very dubious project. Remember Phantom Dust.

So, since E3 2014, the only new game announcement we can call significant is Forza 6.

What's the point of announcing even more games now when the slate is pretty full as it is.  Halo 5, Halo Wars 2, Gears of War 4, Crackdown 3, Quantum Break, Tomb Raider 2, Forza 6, Scalebound, ReCore, Fable Legends, Gears of War Ultimate Edition, Sea of Thieves, Killer Instinct Season 3 and Rare Replay which was just released is a pretty solid lineup and those are just the ones that we know about.  Does anyone really think they have nothing for 2017 and beyond?  Does it make a difference if they announce 2017 games this year or next?  I mean it's not like we'll be playing them any sooner.  Also Phil Spencer has said they're moving away from deals that basically buy timed exclusivity for games and DLC and putting the money into first-party games which is good for all gamers.

If it makes people feel any better we know Decisive Games is working on a major strategy game.  Twisted Pixel is working on their biggest game yet.  Capcom Vancouver has been working away on an unannounced game for 2 years (their last two games were Dead Rising 2 and 3).  Playground Games (Forza Horzon 1 and 2) have been working on a top secret game since they released their last one.  Undead Labs signed a multi-game deal with Microsoft and are working on a Zombie MMO game.  They have other first party studios working on unannounced games as well.  They have been giving some other outside pretty steady work as well and it's hard to imagine them not having at least one or two of those studios working on unannounced games.

I disagree with the Sony part.

Let's check the Sony announces and release of the games.

You are using the exception like Uncharted, DriveClub, etc but all others first-party were announced and releases in less than a year.

The games announced at E3 this year (first-party) will be released in 2016.

And?  MS & Nintendo have announced and released games within the same year too.  Which doesn't change the fact that they've also announced a tonne of stuff that was years away from launch, just like Sony.

And we'll see about those 2016 games, I though Ueda was iffy on The Last Guardian making the cut anyway.

Using FF15 and KH3 to say Sony is annoucing things too early is just incredibly weird. SE would have played just as much of a role, if not more, in that. SE wanted to get the announcements out and Sony just happened to be the partner that it worked out best to reveal with.

Sometimes games just get delayed. i dont think there is any issue at all at announcing early. Its how they manage showings of teh game after the fact that is important, like you said.

Lets take UC4... honestly amazing stuff in how its reveals have just gotten better and better. I think MS has some trouble in this department. i take a look at QB from gamescom and cant help but feel underwhelmed. it felt like the same footage they showed off last year fo the game but with a different main character and during the day instead of night.

They could've announced it anywhere, sure.  They could've held their own E3 conference like this year too :P

But given that Sony pretty much did it again this year with Shenmue, it certainly shows a pattern that they're not averse to riding the hypetrain-that's-years-from-release.

And regarding UC4, I'm glad you feel that way, but I know for me and certainly a number of my friends, hype can erode fairly quickly over a number of years.  In 2009 I cared about The Last Guardian.  I don't any more.

Sea and Wars aren't significant though.

Gears 4 was unveiled, not announced, at this E3. It had already been announced.

talk about some nit picking. if you cant consider gears a new announcement then might as well not consider Horizon a new announcement since we knew GG were making a PS4 exclusive, so it was its unvieling. maybe when GT7 is announced we dont count it as well, because the devs already mentioned it before.

Haha! Pretty much what I was thinking.

We already knew about Horizon before the unveiling as well. But it doesn't mean much until we actually see some gameplay.

Maybe we should exclude any game from a studio that said they're working on a project.

So far Microsoft has been pleasing me and making me enjoy their console even more each year. They announced a lot of upcoming games.

Well I think ReCore will be significant. :)

That was announced on E3 right or what it announced before?

Has Microsoft fired all it's big shots early?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Nah, these are still 2015+2016 games with more to be announced. Not 2017+2018

Why do you hold Sony responsible for anouncing all those third party games?

And sure enough, they should have announced Shenmue's kickstarter only a year prior to the game's release. Am I right?

You really sound like a reasonable guy. -___-
